Some of you guys may just know somebody.

We have an ex-racehorse that we need to re-home. The vet comes Monday - as in put to sleep.

No illusions, she is a thoroughbred, wick as feck and needs an experienced rider. She's retrained through showing and won some stuff including dressage.

If ANYONE can help avoid this I would be grateful. Experts PM, I can give you all the answers including passport, injections etc.

I hate this part of village life :(

@Him Her I will ask about, I have a friend with a couple of horses and land and my brother has a horse too. One is in Kent and the other is in Devon. How old is she, how tall etc - I don't understand this type of stuff but my mate's wife will.

Hold your horses H, Count me in, my Sister knows a riding school that may take the horse off you. Some great lads on here though that has also kindly volunteered as well, so give them a chance before me. :)

Thanks for the replies - some more info.

Lilly is 12yrs, 16hh bay mare, weatherby's reg exrace (flat) horse.

She is vice less in the sense that she does not crib, weave, box walk or nap etc etc but she did come off the track and end up in poor hands.

She is sharp at times, and needs to be owned and ridden by a competant person. She can be cold backed if she has been out of work for a while or not ridden for a while. If you tack up gently and considerately this is not an issue. The only other time she is cold backed and can hump her back when worked is if she is ready for the physio. She is enthusiastic and sometimes a bit of a worrier so withers are her tight spots but plent long n low work keeps that at bay!

She's quite a sensitive horse, can be grumpy (ears n tail) with rugs. She also has little confidence in the clipping department so i give her Domoseden to do ears n head out.

Those are her bad points.

She's been out of work months now and is bored. When in work, she was used to regular Pessoa, flat school, poles and grid work and hacking ( i'm not a hacker so she is used to being boxed up n hacked round Escrick Park etc, she's happy alone but general on road hacking she may need a bit of work on- while i have done little bits from home my hacking is quiet, i have often rode and led another or led her and rode another to save time).

What ever your doing, schooling or jumping, she enjoys.
Always had a snaffle and for xc had a 3 ring snaffle on 2 reins and only took a pull on bottom rein if needed.

She has been 1st or 2nd in all her pure dressage tests, won most and placed in lots of HT and ODE with dressage scores of 24! Locally showjumped and when i started her off at shows did a little inhand. Did affilliated events last year.

Corking, gutsy little mare that needs somebody with time to ride her enough and get the best from her.

Has lived in and out.

Upto date with physio, vacs, teeth (happy with rasp and power tools).

Deliberately left the quote in horse-person speak - this is not for novices!

This is why I like this forum, I can't help but it amazes me how members step up to the plate to help others, fabulous guys

Final post.

First, major thanks for all the support and to everyone who gave their all to help with this - really appreciated.

Sadly, it finally came down to risk - the wrong environment and she would be a danger to herself and a new owner.

We pulled in favours from professional trainers, got second opinions from leading rehab experts and had to accept the inevitable.

We WERE the last resort :(

Bear with me, I may 'nip' a bit. I'm gonna be picking up the pieces for months :(

I hope you're not saying what I think you're saying ?

:(Sorry to hear this. I wondered about your absence yesterday. I'll stop with the other threads, not the time.:(
