sounds weird, however...... i think my wee Lhasa apso needs a pull through with a xmas tree. is there any doggy laxatives or can you use over the counter human ones? i dont want to go to the vets for him to charge me for the same stuff we take at a couple of quid a throw.

No Mate and I know what you mean about vet fees but its part and parcel of having a dog.

Laxatives will cause the dog to have the shits which causes dehydration. Mate take the dog the vet, it could be a blockage .i.e. the dog has swallowed something it shouldn't?. Is it in pain when you touch its stomach area/back end.

no pain. i dont think shes blocked i just think she needs to eat more of the different coloured kibble! she was at the vets he found nothing wrong with her.

Does your dog's diet only consist of the dry kibble ? If so perhaps a a few spoonfuls of tinned dog food may help, if not then Organic Apple Cider Vinegar also known as ACV (which can been found in health shops) should help.

There's an old trick which might work for you,use a match stick & place the head part of it in it's anus, this will cause it to try & force it out & perhaps get it to excrete anything lodged there.
You could also try raw egg but it wil give it the squits.
cheers..

Add a spoon of cooking oil to the dried food, try and avoid giving the the dog red meat stick to chicken.

@stefblak if you Google "ACV for Dogs" you will find that there are several uses for it for dogs and you should also find recommended dosages.

Just read up on this mate it really does sound like a good product, and it is used to help prevent/cure a multitude of problems. Old remedies that sound like they really do work. I will get some of that for my dogs. Thanks rep added :)

The thing is that a lot of branded medicines and treatments are based on the old remedies but because they have a brand name they have ludicrous prices. It little bit of research can often find the original "old wives" remedy that many treatments are based on, and of course many of the older remedies are more natural and do not have all the chemicals added to stablise the product to give it longer shelf life.

I mentioned this to my wife, and she's ordered some. She says she'll try it on the dog. I think I might have the sh*ts for a day or two.:)
