Whatsapp notifications problem

I have a Huawei P8 Lite but I don't get any Whatsapp notifications. I've been into the settings on both the phone and whatsapp settings and checked but it's all setup correct but when anyone texts or phones me I don't get any notifications , well, not unless I have the app open. I've updated whatsapp but its the same.

The wife travels alot abroard with work and I'm missing all her calls via Whatsapp and text. I'm running 6.0. I have tried a push notification app but it doesn't work for some texts and calls.
Just wondering if there's a fix comre app or something.

Has your wife updated whatsapp?
For iPhones you need IOS 6.0 onwards.
Im running whatsapp version 2.16.17 no issues.

Whatsapp did release an update update for video calling and when I updated I got notification to tell me to start whatsapp up or I couldn't receive messages.

Her whatsapps up to date and so is mine, were both on android. I had/have no problems with my los samsung s3 it seems to be this phone or something.
Can you video call on whatsapp ? If you can how do you do it ?

Open Whatsapp, normally opens on CHATS column, go to CALLS column & near top right is handset symbol with a + , Choose the video option next to your contact. Never tried it myself, Google Duo works pretty good if Whatsapp video no good.

Re Notifications I'd uninstall/reinstall on your phone, might work?

Yes I can video call on whatsapp.
"BOTH" people must have new update.

At the top right of your screen when in whatsapp you will see a picture of a phone and a picture of a camcorder.
You tap the picture of camcorder and it video calls.

This is on IOS can't check on android.

Video call will not work work unless both phones have newest update.
