A friend's lad asked me to look at his phone- it won't boot, gets stuck at the maker's splash screen.
I've done the three-button thing & got into the recovery mode- reset everything, but still no joy. Also the device doesn't show up in Windows (10) when I plug into PC even though I get the Windows pling to tell me something's connected- not sure if that's a windows-related prob or due to the phone.
The phone isn't worth much, but it's all he's got. It's a Wiko 'Lenny' dual sim effort.
I did find a recovery package for it, but it won't run until Windows sees the phone- so I'm kinda stuck.
Why is it that the freebie-favour jobs always take the longest?

Any ideas?

TIA

First thing you need to do is install correct android drivers on your laptop for device to show up..
What is the make of phone?...
What I normally do is reflash device with stock firmware..

OK, is the 'correct Android driver' device-specific? The PC already recognises my Sony & Samsung Androids.
It was my intention to re-install, but couldn't get anywhere when the PC wouldn't see it. I'm used to Windows installing drivers automatically (which it normally does very well) but won't in this case.
I'll have a look about & see if I can find specific drivers.

Phone is branded 'Wiko', model 'Lenny'

maybe an idea....... remove battery for a few mins
then replace battery and try to connect to pc, also reboot pc as
you reinstall battery this might help to connect to each other

Success! Thanks to both of you- the driver downloaded OK, the off/on trick to get the PC to pick up (ater using the hack to get round the un-signed driver on Win10 x64) then ran the update facility. Phone is now better than new (apparently), one happy lad.
The owner's quite chuffed too lol!!
