Cheap android box for bedroom

Hi guys,
As per title I'm looking for something for the bedroom, needs to be android, needs to have built in wlan. Doesn't need mush storage as I have usb hdd and a server. It needs to be able to run xbmc and Netflix and the usual catch up apps to keep the missus happy, anything else is a bonus. Looking to spend 40-50 if poss, I know it's a low budget but we have the mag downstairs so doesn't need to be amazing.

have a look on ebay pal you can pick up quad core android tv boxes for the budget you have stated, the m8 boxes seem to be popular for only a few quid more and should run everthing fine.

Yeah I would go for the M8 its got 2gb of ram

Seeing this thread got me thinking- I have an unused MAG250 (it was a demo- provider went bust!) can it run Android?

check kodi site, there are downloads for linux version of xbmx

I haven't seen anyone say they've had it running, I know the boxes are low spec. Let me know if you get anywhere pal

Problem is that unless there is a supported accelerated GPU then it will almost certainly struggle with video playback and this thread seems to indicate there is no GPU in that device,

Yeah I thought so, ended up getting an android box

Isn't Android based in Linux?

In the same way that osx and iOS is. Its not binary compatible.

Pure android is open source ASOP. This is why the Chinese phones and Amazon can offer it. Google then take ASOP and customise by adding in gui, drivers and some other bits. Google apps used to be part of ASOP but that is now proprietary Google.

please can someone tell me the best android tv to buy with also good support? the one that will give me Netflix, now tv etc. thanks am waiting

when you get one pm i send you dp apk for your mx box

if its just xbmc and catchup apps then the amazon fire tv stick is cheap and will do all your needs
i got one last week and its well worth the money i paid (£19) on special but at 35 will do you perfect
