Hi all, yesterday I took the plunge and rooted my Galaxy S3 and used CYANOGENMOD Nightly which gave me Android 4.3 Jellybean and I also added the latest apps too.

What I'd like to ask is, is this a good custom rom and and what else does "rooting" let me do now on my phone?

How many roms can you have on the phone and which one is the "best" and what apps are good to have?

Apologies for as many q's but I have just got my head round this yesterday:Laugh:

don't know about that specific release of CM but its probably one of the most supported roms out there and lots of custom roms are based on it.

As for number of roms, basically one at a time. There is no answer to which is the best, each rom has it on features and drawbacks, the only thing I can advise is keep an eye on that specific rom's thread on xda or where ever its support and play around with a few different ones.

There are basically 3 different 'base' roms all based on stock android. Most of other roms are based on one of these,
- Cyanogenmod, optimised for speed
- MIMI, different UI which is more iOS like
- AOKP, most tweakable

As for rooting, you can remove some built in apps that you won't be able to otherwise and you can backup all apps and data.

OK thanks for your input bud. So logging onto XDA is the best way to keep up to date with things? I have already noticed more speed in this rom than the stock one had too.

XDA is one of the places. You really need to find where the specific developer for your specific rom hangs out.
