Android v4.3

Both my Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 have had the 4.3 update. My Nexus 7 has generally not had any issues anyway. But my Nexus 4 however has always had WiFi issues with failed downlaods over WiFi from Play store on my home conenction "package file is invalid" indicating data corruption / CRC checksum mismatch. Strange considereing all other android devices in my house work fine on the same conenction...Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy s3, Huawei Ascend g300, HTC Desire.. etc etc. I have tried 4 different routers with all manner of firmwares (DD-WRT, Stock, etc etc)..Same result..except on a Tenda N60 but only with a old firmware !

Anyway..of course the muppets at Google Play denied all knowledge of any known WiFi problems with the Nexus 4, I have had 2 RMA units with the same issue. Eventually Google Play decided to blame my ISP claiming it's a "connection issue"... They seemed to fail to understand..that at least 5 other devices on the same connection, same ISP do not have this problem..it's device specific..surely if my ISP or conenction was at fault the other devices traversing the same connection and same ISP network should also exhibit the issue ?

But...after the Android 4.3 OTA update this issue finally appears to be fixed on my Nexus 4, I havent seen a single failed download since ! So whatever they have changed seems to have resolved the issuee. I suspect they have new Qualcomm Prima WiFi drivers in the OTA , theres also an updated Kernel. I also hear the ARP offload bug, and delayed WiFi notifications, as well as Bluetooth killing the WiFi connection has also been sorted.

The Nexus 4 is a great handset...shame it's let down by Googles poor attitude to acknowledgement of bugs and their slow responses to resolving them,...it's taken 7 months for these fixes... There are still yet more bugs that are not fixed which are WiFi related...For example I get issues with URL links in Facebook,WhatsApp,WiFi when on WiFi it will say "page cannot be found" yet the same links work fine on 3G/Data connection.. Also if I use a VPN on the same WiFi connection the links "magically" work fine ..

Nexus 10 updated here in NZ toward the end of the week. Ran a factory reset and have the perception it is sweet as!

Loads of updates for the various common apps came down this morning.
MX Video being the most important one that now runs on 4.3

..on a side note.. Nexus 10 - Love it!
