I would really recommend the sumvision cyclone nano its one the best box,s i ever had and looking at getting another one as i sold my first one but they really are pretty good.It runs just like you would see on a tablet or phone so pretty easy straight out of the box.and it can also run ICS now and you can also run webcams and get a tv freeview stick for it.

Its nearly a £100 but well worth it:

Which model is m3 is that the nano slim player + when flashed with ICS? Mine's back to 2.3 again and reports as a M1 I vaguely recall that mine reported as an M3 when I flashed 4.0.

The Rasberry PI is an embedded Linux box more for enthusiast your better going for an android based box as these will gave you more flexibility in apps. Google marketplace etc. You can also plug webcams into a lot of them for Skype etc. As well as play flash games, Facebook, YouTube, BBC Iplayer, ITV player. Your best with one with a NEON basted an A8 or better or better still NVidia T3 this will give you hardware encoding rather than software based. You can also get an air mouse (Bluetooth based mini keyboard with built in touch pad) to control it with.
