Thinking of picking one up, but would like some opinions.

Seems that there is a honeycomb beta rom for it now, and already have an unlocked hunwei e220 dongle so could make it 3g.

Treated myself to one at Easter and can't fault it, originally bought due to finances at the time and wanted to upgrade to a better one, Asus/xoom, at a later date but don't think I'll be selling now. I put corvus5 on it and oc'd to 1.2 can get 1.5 but I only use it for surfing and that's enough for me, kids play games on it also watched Rio xvid on it and said it was pretty good and want one for xmas.

viewing angle is really poor, but I knew about it and checked it out instore so knew what I was getting plus the fact its normally held about 18" in front of my face not on a flat surface I don't normally notice. Flash works great, its quite fast and battery lasts about 6.5 hrs.

Keeping my eye on HC rom thread, which when complete would be awesome, also can't try dongle because only have zte one.

reserved and picking it up later:)

Coming from an android phone so should be quite familiar in flashing and what not, also downloaded corvus5 in anticipation.

Also grabbed all the gameloft HD games from mobilism, some look stunning for such small files compared to the GB gargantuan ones of the PC, and the psx and n64 emu's :)

hopefully my e220 dongle should work fine, if so will by a few of those cheap '3' data sims off ebay/amazon so I can use it anywhere(ish).

Did you get a case/screen protector for yours?? if so official or other??

Only trouble i had was with drivers, but followed guide off modaco, search for yaudig, and all sorted after that. No protector and just bought a 10" netbook sleeve, which is a little bit bigger but does me till I can find a suitable/cheaper alternative than the official (rrp £25+)

The viewing angle killed it for me was just awful lasted a week with it then sold it on.

I've got the HC beta running on mine at the min, couldnt wait and took the plunge, still some problems to be ironed out but cant complain considering what they have got to work with, had a few random freezes which I have had to reboot and Flash video doesn't display in the browser but if you make it full screen plays fine.

If they get this ROM right it will amazing !!!

By the way..........VegaComb Beta 1.3 Huawei 3G Edition

i dont think the viewing angle is that bad!

loving my vega at the moment, tried modaco, fuji and corvus5, stuck with corvus.

paired up my wiimote & classic controller pro and it way better than a virtual stick in all the emulators (psx, n64).

Also if you want a stand, then I bough a couple of plate stands for a couple of quid off ebay, work a treat :), but also ordered one of these, since you adjust the angle.

just looking for a decent class 10 micro sd since only have an 8gb class 4 in at the moment.

stands are £1 in poundland im happy with mine also got a ipad screen protector and trimmed it also yes you guessed it a quid

Did you manage to get your dongle working? My e220 registers on Orange and 3 but flashes between 3G and no signal constantly, like literally less than a second, tried setting apn but still wont connect, I'm using corvus5 with the installed 3g files.

I remember getting a solid blue in modaco r8, not tried in corvus5, running vegacomb 1.5.2 at the moment, I'll try that later.

Are you in USB host mode?

In corvus do the 3g settings just appear when the zip is flashed or do you have to do this:

1. Insert the Huawei E220 USB Dongle (mine was a t-mobile PAYG dongle)
2. If USB Host Mode is enabled, the dongle will flash green, then blue

*Interesting bit*:
5a. Go to Settings --> Accounts & Sync --> Add Account
5b. Select 'Google'
5b. Hold down the back button (the physical button) for 2-5 seconds until a 'Wireless Settings' icon appears at the bottom of the screen
5c. Select 'Wireless Settings'
5d. Select '3G Service enabled'
5e. Select 'Data enabled'
5f. Select 'Network Operators' ... You may need to wait 10-30 seconds as the Vega configures itself to read the USB dongle, makes a connection and identifies what providers are available... the light on my USB Dongle went solid blue at this point (if I recall correctly)
5g. Choose your network operator
5h. The Vega notification bar will change to show a "3G" icon, which is animated to show upload/download action; and a signal strenth icon.
6. Ensure WiFi is off and surf to a website... In my case, I got the t-mobile top-up page, which showed me my dongle's phone number and the fact that I had no further credit on my account.

got it in usb host mode, dongle flashes blue not solid. I followed the guide, I also downloaded an app called 2G/3G status or similar that someone on modaco said they use, maybe i'll back up corvus and try with R8 see what I get with that.

Managed to sort it, I had to install 2 apps which were quick settings and apn manager, then did following incase anyone else waants to try

Plug dongle in and boot into host mode, open quick settings and turn 3G on and choose network, once registered close and open apn manager and scroll down and choose/enable your operators apn, then away you go surfing the net using 3G.

confirmed working fine on corvus5 SP1 ROM, cheers fella :)

leaving vegacomb alone until finished since like playing my n64 roms with my wii classic pro which vegcomb does not allow due to bluetooth pairing, also flash in not working yet.
