I am a bit of a sat novice but I have a skybox f3 which I found incredibly easy to set up
I was thinking of getting a twin tuner amiko alien 2 for kids as they like to record stuff.Any advice
Does it take internal hard drive?also how limited is recording one channel whist watching another with only one sat feed.

do not know much about this box but keeping my eye on this model triple tuner and the golden media triplex for reviews etc .
one thing you will need to do is change your lnb if only one output to a twin or quad lnb and add another feed cable to watch one and record another as each tuner needs its own feed to not restrict you to either h or v polarity
also if keeping f3 for another room you will def need quad lnb
i know the alien does not take internal harddrive but works on external usb harddrive pendrive
a little more work is needed to set up these boxes as can take two diff images spark whicjh is meant to be good and stable and enigma 2 which is still experimental at the moment
hope this helps a bit

I've got sly mk4 dish with only two feeds coming from it.Am I right in thinking that this is a quad lnb?It looks like it thru binoculars. If so how easy would it be to connect 1or 2 more feeds. It's a fairly recent installation

That's a twin LNB, i.e. two cables is twin. For Quad you will need four cables from dish.

Any more info on the alien twin or is it similar to the alien 8900?

It's similar but so much more.

I run mine on Enigma because I like the 7 day EPG and it runs very well. I have tried various different images but find the most stable for me is Yoda's backup.

If your looking to record 2 channels or 1 while watching another then this is the box for a budget.

I can record 2 HD channels on my Samsung M3 USB drive with no freezes or problems.
