Recently purchased Edision os mini twin tuner but can't record onto Usb external hdd. Image is latest
openvix and I have previously recorded onto this drive from Mutant hd 2400.
Anyone having similar problem?

Id the movie folder there at that location /media/hdd/movie/

Id the HDD mounted as a hard drive as in media/hdd or as a usb as in media/usb ? If its that latter youll need to use media/usb/movie

If I understand you right the movie folder is at media/hdd/movie

HDD is mounted as media/hdd

You should not need to alter or change any of the image settings..
Your problem is you have used drive in another device..the only way to get it working correct is to either initialise it via HD options in settings/storage devices or using computer reformat drive to fat 32 and with box off plug it in and power on box and all will be good.

This sounds good and may work but I've just found out my ET 8000 also won't record and has
an internal hdd which used to record. I've just updated to latest vix 037. I can't believe this the problem so I'm doing more investigation,

I will post later.

Again the drive has been used by another image...unless you reflash newer image of same team build you will need to re initialise the hard drive..
Just go to settings/setup/storage devices and select your drive and initialise (press red on remote)and all will be good..do not change any of the settings for recording etc within the image they are all set up correct ready to record..the only setting you need to change is the location of epg data storage from flash to media/hdd..

Can you issue the following command using Putty or alternative and post back the results?

Can you also take then post a screenshot of the following page too?
Blue > Vix > Mount Manager

I reflashed ET8000 with older openvix image (030) and everything is fine, I didn't need to alter
anything it just worked.

Still need to sort Edision os mini when I get time. I need to learn how to do screenshot .
Will post later.

The way USB sticks/HDDs are mounted was changed not too long ago. This may be at play.

I reflashed with vix 036 (not latest) and inserted transcend 32 gb media/hdd and now I am able to
record. I can't explain why but I'm just happy everything is ok.
Thanks to all for your input and hopefully I will continue to learn a little bit more.

What path do you have it mounted to ?

Should be media/usb and in the usb folder should be a folder called movie

Hi thanks for getting back. In mount manager it says 'device:/dev/sda1' the mount says ' Mount:/media/usb' but there is no movie folder in the usb folder there is nothing!!

FTP in and create the folder.

You may have to set the recording patch on your image also.
