Hi guys

Just starting out and I am hoping someone can help. I have just installed Kodi on Windows 10 and so far it is working fine when I add local files and videos. I tried to install blackboxostv.co.uk/kodi build and a couple of others via methods on youtube and a lot of websites. All methods are pretty much the same, however when I am trying to install wizard, the file downloads but when it starts extracting, Kodi asks me to force close without fully extracting the build.

It tries to force close around the 8-16% mark. When I do force restart, the build does not activate and it defaults to vanilla Kodi.

Is there a fix for this?

I read in a few places that there are other people who have the same problem on Windows. Works fine on Android.

I uninstalled and tried to install a previous version of Kodi V 15.1 and still the same problem. Also tried with v15.0

Please help so I can resolve this asap.

Thank you

Hi mate,

Although the black box build is pretty good, I wouldn't get too hung up about running custom builds as they generally have too much bloat, run slow as fekk and are always updating something or other that you never use.

Take some time to learn and build your own kodi by adding sources and repos that are of particular interest to you.

I suggest for starters you install the following add ons :
Genesis, Phoenix, UK Turks, Vdubt25 and NJM soccer. google seo michael for all you need to know about add ons and the installation process.

Good luck

sound advice above follow it & forget the bloat

I know this post is old
I'm beginning to learn to build, made a big mistake of finding kodi about 4 months ago and used Blackbox. It's a good build for my family and friends to use.

In regards to the original post or if anyone is interested, if any build downloads fully but does not extract g fully.
Just close/force stop kodi
Turn on hidden files,
Navigate to your kodi main files within windows or es.
locate the packages folder Inside there will be the build you downloaded in rar/zip format
just cut and paste to main directory kodi folder and extract.
Overwrite :yes to all
Start kodi

Thanks a lot Mattc. I will give it a go tonight and report back.

manic01, its too much effort. I dont have the luxury of time so I will take the shortcut and live with a heavy build. I have a powerhouse HTPC so not bothered.

Cheers guys

You mean to say that it only takes 30-60 mons to actually go find all the sources, figure out the good ones from the crap ones, test test test, go back and find more, try to find the odd on that you like on blackbox but you just can't figure out what it's called but want to get it, give up, start again the next day and give up again, start again and finally find something that's good only to find out that half the streams are terrible etc etc etc.

Hmmmmmm

its part of the joys of it the best build ever is always your own built to your liking surely worth an hour or so of your time

Yes I'm learning slowly started on that build, since I have set most of my family up on it.
So I have to keep my hand in but generally I update it every few weeks only about 6 repository I use lol.
My current hobby is my dreamboxes.
Trying to breathe life back into them

If you don't know how to set the cachemembuffer size. The areswizard has a great advanced setting wizard tool in the tweak option. This will work out the cachemembuffersize for you, based on the amount of RAM your machine
has. Kodi will use 60mb RAM by default.
My is set at 315mb RAM so if you have got it spare utilise it.

I had some luck by not force closing the build in kodi but exiting to the os and killing the kodi app from the app manager then reopening kodi.
