I have been looking a 3D printers and scanners the last couple of months, and there is a mountain of info, software, and a wide range of machines varying in cost, quality & capability.

Just a thought.

Thank you very much for the suggestion Fletcher :)

Let's see how popular an idea this is and we can 100% add something to the PC forums should it get interest?

Thanks for taking the time to improve DW, much appreciated!

It would certainly make an interesting subject, emerging technologies are always fun to follow. Especially as we all wait for them to become affordable!

Affordability will come soon enough as most of the patents expire in 2014, this is when the big companies start mass production at cheaper prices.

I saw one in action a while back at a show. They can take up to 4 hours to print a small model.

This all depends on what model you use, and how much you pay for the machine. They range from £300 to £300,000 and depending on what material you want to print with can also influence you time and cost.

A 3D printing section would be welcomed by a newbie like me. I've been wanting to get into it for a while but so confusing about where to start !
