I just got my second box wired up ~ I think the Nand QSB install has gone wrong.

Oggy should like this haha,

Soldering of Coolrunner is perfect but there's a couple of wires connected to the Nand-X qsb. Nandpro does not see my reader to read Nand, presumably because it's wired to QSB instead of wired direct.

F*ck.

Will post pics of my install ASAP .

Wires all the way from now on .. ram the QSB's . :grayno:

I'm thinking remove QSb, rewire the Coolrunner see if it boots ?

I know 360 boots to retail with glitch chip installed correctly , plenty of time to sort this .

Re: Coolrunner installed, Nand-X Installed .. Not Booting up , No Nand Read. Nand-X Q

you defo got the 2 correct QSB's? i fell into the trap of soldering the 2 boards that came with the nand-x and then realised I'd put the wrong one in! DOH!

This is the two I ended up with. (The correct ones!) for the Phat one any way...... get a multimeter (there simply got to be used!) and test all the points from above and below the machine, bit finicky but can be done....

Sounds like you have blown a resistor mate. Get a multimetre and measure the Stby_clk resister it should read 33ohms if it doesnt read then the resistor is blown and you will need a work around, im pretty sure Oggy will have a suggestion as he is fukin A1 god for this sort of thing I have a slim that this happend to and found that it was the Stby_clk resistor Im trying ta figure a work around to fix the bloody thing as those resistors are evil frakers to change you will need some major soldering skills to do it.

Ah balls I've just put the board back in will check that next time I have it out, cheers m8.

Does this point on the QSB (underneath red wire) in the photo need soldering (if it wasn't would it cause it to not boot?)

I have just tested every point with a multimeter on 20k ohms all resistance is 0.0 Dibbers m8

Re: Coolrunner installed, Nand-X Installed .. Not Booting up , No Nand Read. Nand-X Q

If it powers on, it's not the stby_clk resistor.

Kill that, or that trace - no power / no nand dumping, nothing.

Re: Coolrunner installed, Nand-X Installed .. Not Booting up , No Nand Read. Nand-X Q

no power / no nand dumping, nothing.

That's effectively what I've got lol.

Re: Coolrunner installed, Nand-X Installed .. Not Booting up , No Nand Read. Nand-X Q

Oh wait, it doesnt power at all?

Remove everything / test.

Find your issue with as few modifications, identify what point causes it, then fix.

If you remove it all and still no power, probably stby_clk.

Re: Coolrunner installed, Nand-X Installed .. Not Booting up , No Nand Read. Nand-X Q

Oh and those QSB's are crap in my experience.

Had a guy bring one around, hardest part of fixing it was removing them.

I have to agree ... the other one I have is perfect , that was hard wired.

From another forum:

I discovered this after a member from the forums broght me their board as the original pad next to the HANA chip was lifted and another point was attempted but resulted in the console no longer powering on.

Worth a go ?

Is that not the wrong QSB for the cool runner installation on a Phat? (them two QSB's that came with nand-x kit or NOT to be used with or can't be used with a "coolrunner" installation?

Here is mine.

(I agree removing them is a bey'atch, the hardest thing I found with this was the bloody earth to the shiny casing! mare it was!!!)

You have to fix the damaged point for stby_clk

The alt point alone will not work.

stby clk alt FT2R2.jpg

Will this point FT2R2 be ok to use after trace repair m8 ?

The pic at the top is my stby_clk looks like a lifted pad (actually it is now).

The resister is ok 33.9 ohms meter set to 200?

One thing before I lifted the pad off i pressed it in and turned it on the green light started flashing on the front, better than nothing :)

Power on problem solved, (cheers for the pointer Oggy).

Just getting 3 red lights , secondary error 0022 now.

If I set Coolrunner to Prog and Slim (my box is a Phat) it boots into retail OK.

When I put the .ecc RGH file on box powers up , middle green light and just sits there.

So I'm still retail atm lol.

Ps. Nand-x QSB boards seem ok , reading and writing fine .

Good work man,! I'm still at the "biting fingernails" option, which isn't listed here..!

I'll be following your thread.....

Oggy is this the fix for the stby_clk resistor blowing? Ive reread thru this post and not sure if Im getting the wrong end of the stick if it is a fix will it work on the slim Ive got? as you dont seem to have another resistor there. Thanks for any advice as always

Re: Coolrunner installed, Nand-X Installed .. Not Booting up , No Nand Read. Nand-X Q

that was just to fix a pulled trace.

I've heard you dont need to replace the resistor anyway, I usually do. In the pictured case, it wasn't neccesary as they had only damaged the pad / pulled the trace.

How would I go about it then mate I suppose that you would short the trace and replace the resistor. Its this ****er in the pic thats not reading so I would assume that not getting any reading at 33ohms Im correct. But how do I not need to replace the resistor? Thanks for the input
