Morning,

OK got my cool runner and it's all installed and booted up jtag.exe and read the nands again, so have 2 folders one with

nand1 and another nand2 *still reading 2 bad blocks" (this is after using the wires direct and also 2 new QSB's)

Now if i go through the jtag tool then I get to the bit where it "flashes glitch board" the green LED goes out, then the next screen where it says "nand compare and your not going to be able to continue unless you have two matching nands" blah blah.

So I've downloaded and run "nand repair" and loaded nand 1 into source and then nand 1 as destination, it then gives me the warning of "it'll overwrite" etc. etc. So i allow it too and then if I try and load them nands back into jtag tool then it comes back with the failed blocks and of course can not continue.

So not sure what to do now as "nand repair" is telling me that it's saved them and amended them but jtag tool is still telling me that the blocks are bad.

Any ideas please I'm at a loss now.

32768 block(s) in nand image
2 non-matching block(s) found

Cheers

Dibbs.

If I use jtag tool to repair then i get the following message.

But if I compare them again in jtag tool i still see two bad blocks.

What about the remap bad blocks tab ?

I dumped my nand 4 times. And copy and pasted those in a safe folder , all compared perfect.

Thanks mate, I'm a little unsure on how to use that so I guess it's more reading for me the night....

Hello, OK thanks for that, I've followed the tut and have mapped the address and the bad block, in the video he presses "un-map" when i do that and then select create freeboot and choose the "nand" the one it created i get the following error.

so after i have selected "un-map" it then makes an image that i have stored and called it (un-mapped nand) It's after this when i select create freeboot that i get the error. if I load it (the new nand via 360 flash dump tool) i still see bad blocks.

This is a screen shot just after selecting create freeboot.

Hi guys,

Well i'm at a loss.

I've been reading and has some sound advice from a few on here and there saying that the xell is in the 1st 50 blocks and of course that's where i'm getting the nand bad blocks.

I was then going to follow the "degraded" post but that's also throwing the toys out the pram.

I get the following error when i try and open the 1st nand that i read. (Having a ball at this i am!)

If you are unfortunate enough to have a bad block in the first 50 blocks (where the ecc file goes), you'll find it hard to get the CPU key. Ironically, once you have the CPU key, Multi_builder will happily remap the block for you. Before you get there, you'll need to do it manually:

(I've got the CPU key as i used JF to get it from the liteon)

Re: Can't get rid of the 2 bad blocks in this nand xbox 360 nand pro nand jtag coolru

I knew when i seen the above post that I had come across this very thing ages ago. Im sure the following copy/paste from another forum sorts out the degraded issue.
I cannot open my NAND in degraded (bad file lenth?) but i managed to jtag a xenon with the same problem (Not able to open NAND)
Without any hastle

But now im trying a zephyr and I cannot write xell to the NAND? It stops at 04F everytime, What should I do?

ANSWER
open in HxD and change it to 2005.

remap

So basically open up your nand in a hex editor and change the date to 2005....im pretty sure i did this........but it was an absolute age ago.

CPU key and DVD key are not the same. JF will give you the DVD key, not CPU key.

Re: Can't get rid of the 2 bad blocks in this nand xbox 360 nand pro nand jtag coolru

ah ok thanks for that! (that might explain why it's so hard to get then!) i did use CPU key when i updated the free style dashbaord from the old FSD to the new one. (on the other jtag that was on the old dashboard) this is where i probs got confused....it's a learning curve so please bare with me! ;)

Just typical of me having a bad nand !

Thanks for this mate.

Just tried it, edited the hex file to 2005 and then saved it but then read the following...

NAND wont open in Degraded? Here is how to fix that.
1) Make a copy of your NAND backup
2) Open that copy in a hex editor
3) At offset 0x0012 you will see 2004 - 2007 Microsoft Corporation
4) Change that to 2004 - 2005 Microsoft Corporation
5) Now you image will open in Degraded.

For Big Block consoles. Degraded will not open your image.

Right back to jtag tool...

How do I use the following correctly and I'll have another go at it.

Dibbs mate I jtagged mines before all these tools came out...apart from degraded that is lol. So I cant help with the use of these automated tools. I cant tell there is obviously a different path to follow for a Jtag (like mine is) and a coolrunner install. I would even go over to xbox scene or xbox hacker and duplicate your post/problem over there. The guys who really know what they aredoing with this sort of stuff "live" over there lol. Get your post up now...tonight and you will have some answers soon enough due to their time zones ect. Good luck and dont forget to post up the solution for others.
BTW you have never stated weather you have a big block jasper.

BTW the "fix" you have outlined here is exactly what I was trying (badly) to remember and pass on to you lol

Re: Can't get rid of the 2 bad blocks in this nand xbox 360 nand pro nand jtag coolru

yeah thanks for that bud.

it's a huge jasper 500 meg sized 45 minute per nand read that I have been convicted off! (i know that there's a few saying that i don't have to read it all as xell confides in the 1st fifty blocks..or some thing like that) I was even thinking of ripping it all out and starting on another 360 but i ain't given up with it, + i'd also like to get it put up here for people to read. Nothing better than starting with the hardest most difficult thing going, (for me any way) done loads of broadcom reading/writing, blackkatz etc. so nearly getting my head around this new task!

Sounds like the nand was bad @ base, (so when M$ wrote it....according to why they are bad in the 1st place). (defo can't be the soldering as that's all sorted, tried 2 QSB's a direct wire etc.. Multi meter etc.. etc.)

I'll do it like, but you might have to bare with me for a little while....

Cheers man.

Are you not just tempted to write one yet ;) jk

Re: Can't get rid of the 2 bad blocks in this nand xbox 360 nand pro nand jtag coolru

its risky dibbs. i was lucky when i did that . but as you read i had a lot of faffing around because of it.

good luck mate

Re: Can't get rid of the 2 bad blocks in this nand xbox 360 nand pro nand jtag coolru

Well i ain't giving up on it like, but trust me to have the one with the bad "nand" (maybe some thing to do with all the years i tortured the mutt...see Big Track thread)

I'll head over to one of them suggested sites then and then see what the score is......does no one no how to use the "nand repair" in post No. 11 (see above)

Thanks for being patient with me.

Cheers
