mates just text me and says that the new games that are coming out have a code with them that you need to put in, so is this the end of 2nd hand games, he says that you can download them from XBL but the code is the same price as the game?

yep dibbers its an EA thing it ties online play to your gamer tag load of wank!

its going to be in all the new fifa, john madden, nhl etc

dayum, so if that game is sold on then you'll still have to buy the game and then download the code to play? so no more 2nd hand games then really from blockbusters etc?

Think EA are charging £5 so will still be cheaper than buying full price might push down 2nd hand games.

there all gunna be at it soon,i think thq are the first with ufc undisputed 10
but ea ubisoft scee and some others have confirmed they will use this method

but your m8 has it slightly wrong, the charge is to enable online play for games
so single player will be unaffected-its apparently to cover server costs for more online players

pure greed on the companys part if you ask me,i mean say tiger woods 11 sells 1 million copies, and they all go online 1 ml users online then, but say 300000 sell the game on ,ea want 10 quid of each of the 300000 people to play it online-but theres still only 1ml users online,ea have had the money for 1ml copies online, but even tho there will still be the same 1ml copies ea want another 3ml from the 300000 used games

admitedly ea(other companys too) will get summat from the pirate copies on 360-but the companys are doing it for all consoles

so if i was gonna download a copy and then flash me drive i'd still have to pay to play the copy online....think i get it....

how does it cover cost for more players on server

when if i buy second hand it means the person i bought it off wont be on there server so it would still be there same amount of people online

it doesn't its just an excuse to make more money. can you imagine the outcry if you had to pay such a bounty to drive a 2nd hand car or use a 2nd hand tv. should get the green party on it as its anti recycling :proud:

there getting worse - saw an interview with peter molyneux where he wants to put online shops in the next fable so you can buy weapons upgrades in game instead of playing the game and making your character better you can just buy a better sword for a couple of quid.

Sounds stupid but say they put a rapid fire mod or a super AK47 with mega rate of fire and huge magazine in call of duty for a couple of quid, how many do you'd think they'd sell i'd say lots. They sold 7 million copy's on release day say only 10% buy an in game mod that could be an extra £1.4 million for feck all

poor impoverished game industry my ring!

Exactly

Pointed this out in another forum and was flamed.

If anything the single player is now being penalised. The 360 was marketed as the ultimate online experience. Now they are milking it, if anything, new titles should be £5-10 cheaper, with the gamer paying the difference to play online...if they choose.

With the prices Game and the like charge for pre-owned games and an additional online charge, ppl will end up paying more than they would for a brand new copy.

does this mean i cant take my game round to my mates for a session in future without him having to buy a flippin code to play it? and what happens with weekend swapsies?

only certain titles and developers have code like the ea sports and games like ufc, at the moment as far as i know they are only to enable you to play online (multiplayer) so you could still take it round your friends to play but you would not be able to gone online unless u bung your gamertag/profile on a usb stick and take that with you as the ability to play online is linked to your account, some titles require you to download a very small patch to allow you to play online so you would need to download that on your friends console too (he will not be able to continue using it after you left though!

i have my gamertag on a usb at all times but i also have it on my console, to do that all i did was copy my profile to a usb stick & take it out then i used xbox live to recover my profile so that way i can just keep the usb stick in my car for when i go to a friends and play!
