"Ping 17 Test Media" is a confidential internal Microsoft utility
disc which was left inside an Xbox 360 when it was sent back to a
customer after RRoD repair.

Please note that this disc will not run on iXtreme firmware as-is.
It's an exception to the SS authoring date rule and has 2nd wave
PFI/Video when iXtreme expects it to have the 1st wave versions.
This is the same reason why backups of DDR Universe (the only
other known exception to the rule) will not run on iXtreme.

If you want this disc to run on iXtreme you will need to patch the
iso with PFI_739CEAB3.bin and Video_66D0CB54.iso from the included
ind-ping-1st_wave.rar, but note that this is not the proper
PFI/Video for this disc and you should use it at your own risk.

Also, be aware that this disc will attempt an internet connection
to LIVE/MS, and will halt if it can't connect. Use at own risk!

Seen this and pondered it, but it connects to Live so read into that what u will, lol

I really would not recommend anyone actually downloads this, I reckon that you're almost guaranteed a ban :)

Too right... The disc is of little to no use to anyone anyway. According to what I've been reading it is mainly used to test drives when they are sent back to the repair centers because simply running this disc can help the the engineer identify whether your firmware has been modified lol. It apparently runs network and media checks.

In my honest opinion if you bother to try and run this disc on your console then you are almost definately going to see a ban flying your way ;)

Just read a bit on maxconsole, that says this disk is what Ms use after an RROD fix, to put the console under increased stress to see how it deals with it. So its some sort of boot disk of sorts.

if it puts xbox under stress i wonder if it could be used for someone trying to bring on RROD on there box to get it fixed?

If it's used as a stress test then how the fook do they get it to boot in the first place?

Wasn't the original DVD that was left in the returned drive on a DVDR anyway?

So flash ur original firmware b 4 u send it back, and hope they dont notice the sticker looking slightly tampered with :)

If you're careful enough the sticker shouldnt look as if its been tampered with anyway mate ;) :proud: lol...you make a good point in there though...its always advisable to flash the drive back to stock before sending it back to M$ :)

I sent mine back a couple of months ago for rrod with a flashed drive, they replaced the motherboard and stuck on a new type warranty sticker for me.

I knew that was going to happen lol... I thought about editing it to add that but couldn't be ars*d and thought I might get away with peeps not saying anything ;) lol

I'm sure there are hundreds if not thousands of people who have sent a flashed drive back to M$ and had no problems what-so-ever...hell I've even done it myself lol... I was merely saying its always advisable to flash back to stock as it removes the chance of getting caught out mate lol. Obviously M$ service centers do have ways of checking and the return only needs to land in the hands of a jobsworth and you could end up stuffed... its just an un-necessary risk in my opinion :)

yep that's true, the first time I sent mine back I reflashed but when it went again after only a few weeks I decided better not to disturbed the sticker this time, but if you can flash back and keep the sticker intact then all the better.
