ok guys need some help here got a tp link wireless router, using the superhub 1 as modem only ,im trying to block ,to start off with my smartphone htc one accessing the internet between say 1800 to 1830 each day..This is just a test ,once i get it working ill block my kids laptops and devices accessing the wireless router after a specific time each day..to cut a long story short..ive been into the router settings there are options there but i just cannot for the sake of me get it to work, there is parental control, access control, hosts, schedules, target etc...would be greatful if someone has a tp link router and can write up a step by step guide as im struggling....i have been through it many times but never get it to work somehow after ive been messing with the router nothing connects to it all and have to do a factory reset..cheers guys..:Biggrin2:

flash it with dd-wrt if you can and will give you a lot more options than standard
what is the version number of the router

I tried before but u lose the qos option, i need that for my yo link wifi extender...reverted back to stock fw

ok so no ones got a tp link wireless router that they have set up to block their kids pc from accessing the internet between a specific time, ie 1700 - 2100 ?..

yes mate, those instructions are in the router user interface when you log into it, i follow as it says in the instructions..but just doesnt seem to work, do i need to use bothe parental control tab and access control tab or just the access control...anyway ive joined the tp link forums hopefully someone on there may be able to help me...i see those instructions are for stopping access to certain websites..like google.com etc..i want to stop total access..

use access controls and mac address to stop them getting online

no luck on tp link forums..seems as soon as i enable parental control..its the same with access control .......evrything that connects to my wireless router gets blocked, apart from my laptop which is the parental pc...looks like i may need to invest in another decent wireless router...any ideas ?

You need to add rules for each wireless device specifying limits on the kids by mac address and none on the other devices.

lol thats a bit silly, so i have to enter every devices mac address into the router with no limits, and also the kids pc mac address with limits ?..seems a little silly to go the long way??..lol, would have been much easire just to block the kids pc and allow evryting else....but ill give it a go..how do i get all the other devices mac addresses ?

just turn all devices on and connect to router and then log in to router and mac address for each should be listed

Easiest probably to turn things on one at a time and look at the DHCP Clients List on the router then note them down.

ok ive been at this for a few days when ive had some time in the evening but its just not working..ive followed these instruction as in the router interface, see below, whereas ive subsituted my htc smartphone mac address for the child pc mac address and different times obviously, even when i only enter Google in the allowed domain site name it still does not work. In theory it should allow my htc smartphone to connect to the Google site, which i presume will allow me to connect to anything that is on the interent ?

Parental Control Settings Help

The Router, providing convenient Parental Control function to control the internet activities of the child, can limit the child to access certain websites and restrict the time of surfing. On this page, you can create the rule.
• Parental Control - Check Enable if you want this function to take effect, otherwise check Disable.
• MAC Address of Parental PC - In this field, enter the MAC address of the controlling PC, or you can make use of the Copy To Above button below.
• MAC Address of Your PC - This field displays the MAC address of the PC that is managing this Router. If the MAC Address of your adapter is registered, you can click the Copy To Above button to fill this address to the MAC Address of Parental PC field above.
• Website Description - Description of the allowed website for the PC controlled.
• Schedule - The time period allowed for the PC controlled to access the Internet. For detailed information, please go to Access Control > Schedule.
• Enable - Check this option to enable a specific entry.
• Modify - Here you can edit or delete an existing entry.
For example: If you desire that the child PC with MAC address 00-11-22-33-44-AA can access Google on Saturday only while the parent PC with MAC address 00-11-22-33-44-BB is without any restriction, you should follow the settings below:
1. Click Parental Control menu on the left to enter the Parental Control Settings page. Check Enable and enter the MAC address 00-11-22-33-44-BB in the MAC Address of Parental PC field.
2. Click Access Control > Schedule on the left to enter the Schedule Settings page. Click Add New... button to create a new schedule with Schedule Description is Schedule_1, Day is Sat and Time is "all day-24 hours".
3. Click Parental Control menu on the left to go back to the Parental Control Settings page:
• Click Add New... button.
• Enter 00-11-22-33-44-AA in the MAC Address of Child PC field.
• Enter Allow Google in the Website Description field.
• Enter Google in the Allowed Domain Name field.
• Select Schedule_1 you create just now from the Effective Time drop-down list.
• In Status field, select Enable.
• Click Save to complete the settings.
Then you will go back to the Parental Control Settings page and see the following list:
ID MAC address Website Description Schedule Status Modify
1 00-11-22-33-44-AA Allow Google Schedule_1
Edit/Delete
Click the Add New... button to add a new Parental Control entry.
Click the Enable All button to enable all the rules in the list.
Click the Disable All button to disable all the rules in the list.
Click the Delete All button to delete all the entries in the table.
Click the Next button to go to the next page, or click the Previous button return to the previous page.
