I can't login into Wireless rounter to set up settings .I have tried reset button on the back for more than ten seconds. Then i wait type in 192.168.1.1 and i get a login page tried admin as user and password as password but still won't let me in.My lad has messed with passwords and has forgotton them.I thought hard reset would clear everthing so i could log in.Anybody got any ideas.

hey, this might sound a bit funny but you are plugged into the router not trying to do it wirelessly ?

you could try this if you are plugged in, not tried this got it from somewere else

Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds without the power cable plugged in
And while holding the reset button, plug in the power cable and keep holding the reset button for about a minute and then release it.
You will have a check light in the router. After resetting the check light should go OFF.

focus

A hard reset will clear everything, paswords, security and even the SSID (if you changed it from default).

If you then look at available wireless networks, your network SSID should be Netgear and have no security.

10 sesonds is a soft reset, hold for 30 seconds....have a look on bottom for user name and password....just seen your post focus...oops, but yeah i'd leave power inactually and then 30 seconds...

is it a virgin media router m8, if so, user is virgin, password is password :)

If its an older router, then it may be telewest, password ; cw, password or ntl, password.

The details shold be displayed on the base sticker.

i don't think the original OP has automatic e-mail notification of replies on and is probably sitting there still puzzling over it with all the answers here....lol

router log in detail some times are different, but dead easy like a few members have posted and that's hard reset, flip router over and default ip login details etc will all be there.

apparently this is for that router

Default IP address: 192.168.0.1
Alternate Admin URL: http://routerlogin.net/
Default admin username: admin
Default admin password: password
Administration: Web-based (LAN)
Remote configuration (WAN
