Hi all, I have being trying to update from Apollo 22 or 23 to Apollo 25 and later by doing a full reflash, but the display is weird, it looks like the blacks are being replaced with greens, I have tried 25 to 28 and its the same, I even tried blackhole but its the same also, I downloaded Apollo 15 and reflashed with it and its perfect, also notice that the remote response is sluggish on the other builds also.

Its a original VU+solo2.

would anyone have any ideas what going on.

Thanks K.

Are you doing clean/virgin flash directly to 26 or 28 without using any settings restore? In fact, are the blacks being replaced with green during the setup up of 26/28?

yes mate, clean flash, the green display starts on the first splash/boot screen, and stays that way, I will try post a screenshot if I attempt an update again.

There are a lot of changes to in 25 onwards including new OE core, drivers and some boxes even got new Kernels.

Remote problems I'm sure is known on 25 and it's possible that something in 25+ doesn't like your solo2 and is causing this green thing.

Personally, I would stick with 24 (latest update prior to all the changes) as since 25 came along a week ago there have been a lot of fixes going by fact it's now on 28 (27 must have failed to build so wasn't released). It's what I'm doing.

I would also report this on Vix website as a possible problem especially if it's fine on 24 or less as that proves it's not a hardware failure on your solo2 unless pheonix reads this thread and can help.

I've seen the green tinged display before and if I remember rightly it was to do with the AV settings so you could maybe have a play around there?

dont really see any setting under AV that would make a difference, no advanced colour options. cheers K

This is from memory but some of the AV settings for the SCART port can affect the picture, or my memory could be failing and I could be talking complete tripe :D

The new blackhole? Could they also include the new Kernel and it would also have latest VU+ drivers I'd have thought.

The AV settings for scart could possibly cause weird colours but not if he's using HDMI. If it's true then it's possible that newer Vix has a bug/incorrect default settings for those using scart whereas older Vix doesn't.

I don't know as I use HDMI but I have seen wrong settings on scart change colours.

using HDMI, but now that you mention it, i did notice at the setup stage in started with scart, i had to change it to HDMI. i see others have updated to build 28 and are not reporting these issues, i will have a look at it again tomorrow. K

I didn't think anyone else had reported probs with green colours, just remote. Also problems with colours going mad I've only ever associated with scart settings not HDMI.

I'm using 24 and my HDMI settings are (although I still don't think that is the reason):

Output: HDMI
Automatic Resolution: Disabled
Mode: 720p
Refresh rate: 50hz

Yes your right mate.If your using HDMI but in settings you have it set to scart or Other non hdmi selection the picture is wired tinged colour..feels like your tripping...

Precisely, the new black hole images have been using the new Vu+ kernel and drivers for a while, where as ViX only publicly released Vu+ images with this kernel and drivers from build 025 onwards.

this is the problem I am talking about, the picture on the left and right is a screen shot through openwebif, the picture in the center is one I took at the same time with my camera, this is just after I updated through the feeds from 14 to 28, but it was the same yesterday when I done a clean flash. when I go back to 14 the picture is good again with the same settings.

That is weird. That's not a scart issue at all. That's the type of thing you would get possibly with a faulty hdmi cable.

However, you said older Vix's are fine so that kindof rules out a faulty hdmi cable on it's own.

Can you flash to 24 and is it ok?

yes mate, 24 is as far as I can go. from 25 up I get this green display issue

It looks like it's maybe is something to do with either the new kernel and/or drivers as both the later Blackhole's and from Vix 25+ use these.

You could try another hdmi although I dont think that is problem but worth a try.

If i'm correct about kernel/driver issue then flashing to an old Blackhole image would be ok. Not sure when they updated the Kernel/drivers but it was a while ago. Maybe try an image from about a year ago.

I would stay on 24 for now anyhow and log it over on vix support forum. If it is confirmed to be Kernel/driver I'm not sure who logs it with VU+ themselves.

If you change the Video output from HDMI to say SCART can you see what happens? Then when in SCART change the mode or whatever it's called that allows you to switch between RGB, S-Video etc... and again see what happens. Each time after making the change change the Video output back to HDMI to do your final testing.

What I've typed might sound ridiculous but as I said before I seem to recall something similar before but can't quite remember the exact details.

will give that a try, i was thinking i also have a scart connected from the box to a video sender, i might disconnect it the next time i flash and see what happens. just glad it is'nt a hardware issue, but as bbbuk says i will stay on 24 for now, just can't understand why other people arnt reporting this problem, i have seen a lot have updated on WOS and are reporting some bugs but nothing like this, then maybe its just with the solo2. anyway thanks for the info.K
