its up to you what image try couple openatv /openvix/blackhole/openpli/ images I use the most

Its all about personal preference, for me its ViX.

Vix always for me...properly the easiest to get started with as everything is already in the image..epg/plugins etc not much at all in the way of setting up mostly fine tuning to how you like it..

Just try each image mate and find out which is best for you.
You can do a full backup once you have it configured for yourself so you can easily go back to the image that suits you best

I am awaiting my box to arrive next week & still can't make up my mind, perhaps will start with Vix & will then go for black hole??

if your going to use vix wait for the new vix to be released no more updates for vix 3.0

The box will probably have BH on it so play around with it and then try vix, I also see no reason to wait for the next release of vix as it works right now, the next variant from what I've read a more to do with changes under the hood.

I ordered my box with Vix image, so would you recommend I should go for BH straight away? mind you I am not used to these images, but after reading about them I suspect BH is the most popular & stable image but needs some tweaking while Vix is the most tweaked but less stable image? Am I right?

Any guidance on how to do it?

If you've ordered it with VIX then stay with it till you get used to it and have had time to do some reading. Nothing worse then getting a new box and then getting stuck.

Flash box with image and set it up to your liking.

How to flash a Vu+ Solo2.
Items you need before we start.
1. A suitable USB stick formatted to FAT32.
2. Image of your choice
3. Compression software such as 7zip.

Preparation.
1. Format a USB stick to FAT32.
2. Download the image of your choice and extract it to your desktop.
3. Open the folder you extracted to your desktop, you will see another folder named vuplus, this is your image file. Copy the
entire vuplus folder directly to the USB stick.
Flashing the Receiver.
– Fully power the receiver down via the rocker switch at the rear of the receiver.
– Make sure no USB devices are plugged into the receiver at this point.
– Insert the USB stick containing the image files into one of the USB ports on the receiver.
– Power the receiver on from the rear rocker switch and await instructions

As your Solo2 starts to power up you should see a prompt on the receivers display asking you to
press the power button, at this point you need to press the power button on the front of the receiver,
( the blue circles to the left of the front panel, this is a touch sensitive button ).
IMPORTANT.
DO NOT POWER THE RECEIVER DOWN DURING THE FLASHING PROCESS, AS YOU
CAN CAUSE SERIOUS AND PERMANENT DAMAGE BY DOING SO.
If you dont see the prompt to press the power button but instead see the message “starting” it means
that the receiver has not detected the USB stick or image files or both. If this happens start from the
beginning or try another USB stick, Image or USB port on the receiver.
If all goes well the flashing process should take approximately 2 minutes to complete, if your
chosen image does not contain the “reboot.update” file in the image folder the receiver will sit the
with “update complete” message on it's display and will require you to manually power the receiver
on and off to reboot then box, if this file is present the receiver will automatically reboot it self once
the flashing process is complete.
Please note. you will always see the prompt to press the power button if the receiver has detected a
viable image to flash on the inserted media at bootup, It is perfectly safe and advisable to keep a
image on your USB stick for backup reasons. The image will only flash if you press the power
button, if you ignore the prompt the receiver will boot as normal.

That is very well written AJT of how to put a image on a solo2 box it could do with being a sticky

It was originally done by phionix as mentioned in bottom of the post mate i just copied and tweaked.

for me bh is the best by far and if I were you just starting out on the vu I would use this because once you learn about the bh everything else will be easier , and your going to have to download ftp which is free and easy to use , I also suggest you put tsmedia plugin on it . just log on to vu with ftp use host: your ip add, username: root, password: leave blank , bh 2.9 only . then just drag and drop your tsmedia ipk file into the tmp dir of your box then press menu on your box then addons and goto manually install ipk packages its you should then see your ipk file .

Hi i was just trying to be correct when i mentioned you but this was not copied by me from your original document i copied it from another already posted post elsewhere...Thanks for reminding me though that's it is a legally copyrighted document.. I am sure VU+ created the first "how to flash your receiver" document though so in regard to copyright contents and intellectual property i believe it belongs to them.
Are you seriously that bothered.?

Actually no Vu+ did not have any thing to do with any of my tutorials, all of my tutorials are created by my own observations and experience while flashing receivers or by instructions given to me by people who them selves have experience flashing said receiver ( in which case that person will be duly credited ). my tutorials are my own legally copywrited works and i reserve my legal rights as to how they are distributed.

Yes i am, these are my copywrited works, you are free to distribute them in their original form but you are not free to copy and paste any part of modify / tamper with them without my express written permission.
