I am very close in buying the vu solo 2 but there is no point buying if there is problem with drivers I've heard it runs on the new vix image and there are a few problems like playing recordings can be a problem some times Has any1 come across this

No but then again i dont run the Vix image

I'd be very interested in this as well. Running the Vu+ Duo but would love the extra speed.

Got the vu solo2 it very fast tried the bh 1.7.9 brill just changed over to vix

been reading about a few of the 'issues' with the drivers for this

only one of the dual cores work and recording scrambled channel have problems, especially if using timeshift etc

if this was a technomate receiver released with things like this, all hell would be breaking loose, especially at that price

Best off avoiding VU SOLO 2 then until these issues are fixed. The real test will however be if the issues are resolved in the near future or not... I doubt VU will do a "Technomate" and blame user error and claim the fix is to "Fallow ABC" and then discontinue the reciever without fixing it despite several missed deadlines and promises of fixes..

You obviously dont know Vu then, i can quote a list as long as my arm of issues for the Duo that were reported directly on their own closed in-house Dev forum that still have not even been acknowledged never mind fixed ( some going back over 3 years ). and the same is true for every other model the produce.

Dont get me wrong i'm not slagging them off but there not the almighty, magical STB manufacturers people tend to believe they are.

The same id true of DM and every other manufacturer out there

Only because of their previous exploits of course mate.

I dont doubt it...but you dont see VU or DMM making statments on open public forums about fixes by a certain deadline, or blaming users for issues that are clearly product related. Whatevers reported in closed in-house forums isnt in the public domain. Credibility damage comes when you prove to be untrustworthy and unrleliable by constantly telling lies and breaking promises.

i was thinking of buying one of these soon.might be worth waiting a while just in case there are driver issues

Better off waiting might be hardware issues which can't be solved by drivers. Early adopters always get shafted, they pay more and up being guinea pigs for fault finding. In the big scheme of things companies like vu,dmm,tm etc are small fish compared to large consumer electronics companies like samsung,LG, Sony, Panasonic etc..they don't have the same r and d, testing facilities etc..so expect more bugs and issues on launch..

Well this is a rare thing for me but this is pretty much one of the only times i actually agree with pretty much all of what you just said.

Mine works perfectly fine and so far cannot find a fault with it, the recent tuner driver upgrade from 2 days ago have also improved sensitivity again. Picture break up on low FEC channels is now 21% SNR just goes to prove how good the tuners in these are now and i can only see further improvements.

As for Guinea Pigs every linux receiver available today is not 100% and still under goes some sort of improvement especially on the Linux side of things, so if you own a DM,VU etc your a beta tester for life. If you want stability then buy a closed source receiver and have done with it.

Infact you mention the bigger company's like Samsung,Sony etc... then again your a beta tester my samsung 3D TV needs regular firmware updates for the so called Smart side of things and my Denon A/V receiver periodically needs a firmware update to improve performance.

i doubt any electrical 'Smart' product these days is a fully finished apart from maybe your washing machine, cooker, fridge freezer etc...

Lets face it we are all beta testers
