Hi ; Newbie here; be kind;

self installing Humax Foxsat + motorised dish.
TM2600 super motor, Triax TD88 offset dish + Smart Titanium Universal LNB twin.

(looking true south)
Latitude here is 53.29, Long -6.38
Elevation 29.1 deg
Azi (True) 188.0 deg
declination angle 7.6

Triax Dish instructions not great; 2 scales on dish mounting bracket; as I am at Long 53 I presume it doesn't matter what way this is on the dish?

But as its an offset dish what elevation angle should I set it at ( do I have to allow for the offset?)

What is the setting on my motor mounting bracket?

What should angle be on motor spindle?

Do I have to skew the LNB?

any help will be most appreciated.:nopity::nopity:

hello and welcome to dw! firstly the humax foxsat although a very good reciever for freesat isnt really designed for multi-sat work although of course it has these features. firstly once you are certain that your mounting pole is 100% plumb you need to set your MOTOR ELEVATION to 53, tighten this up as it wont need to be changed. now make sure that the dish bracket is central on the motor spiggot and tighten this up. your lnb skew can be set to level and ajusted accordingly although you will only need a very small movement(left side down a tiny bit from behind the dish usually). take no notice of the off-set dish elevation and just set it to around 30 and tighten so it will move but not so loose as it drops. go to your reciever and enter your long/lat numbers in your usals menu, store and tell the dish to go to thor5/6/int 10-02@ 0.8/1w. now if there are channels in from a factory reset on thor5/6 then select a fta channel.

freq. 12.687.h.27500..3/4 OTV
freq. 12.687.v.27500..3/4 CT24

now ajust the whole assembely LEFT AND RIGHT and the dish elevation UP AND DOWN untill you find a sq reading of between 70-80%. take your time and only make small movments at a time then check your readings. this is not the easiest thing to do on a ladder without a professional field meter but with alot of patience it can be done as i can testify. good luck, regards mdt

Hi MDT

Sorry for late response;
Thank you for all that; very informative; hoping for some good weather at weekend so I can "have a go"- I'll let you know hoe I fared - hopefully it will be good news.

I thought the offset angle of the Tri*x would cause me a problem.

Hi MDT and any who can help;;

Have successfully installed a fixed dish and getting all freesat.

Have installed my motorised dish and Humax Foxsat 500HDR.
have been into hidden mene and set up log and lat, selected motorised antenna etc.
Cant get the dish to goto any of the sats; which I have enabled and saved??

motor is working as I can reposition using the move button on the motor.
Initially I did have Astra 2 but lost this when I moved the dish to set east west limit??
Humax manual is useless for this area of the operation! I feel I am almost there so any help will be much appreciated - my poor hands are frozen solid!!!

send to motor back to zero in the menu,s or manually if you wish then double check your long/lat co-ords. now select say 28.2 east in the channel scan menu and then ok and the dish should drive to were it thinks 28.2e is using your long/lat as a referance. then try say hispasat@30w and scan the channels into memory. freesat stb,s are not exactly designed for multi-sat work although it should work if everything is set up correctly . as long as your pole is 100% plumb and there are no obstructions you should get 45e to 45w but 30e to 30w will give you the main strong sats that should be recievable on a 90cm dish. regards mdt

:proud: thanks MDT, for you help and patience.

I have manually set motor at 0 , then manually moved to 28 deg and fine tuned, have got astra 2 and appear also to have pulled in Eurobird 1 having done a Freesat tune with STB at Freesat. 172 channels strenght 90% quality 100%.
in Non Freesat manual tune - got 407 channels. 90% strength 100% Quality.!!

my only problem is I cant seem to tell the dish/motor to goto any specific position; not sure if I am even in the right menu - manual is no good on this .

In menue Position Setting there is listed satellites and I have enabled and saved, then select one but nothing happens!!

in theory if you find the correct menu and choose a multi-sat channel scan then the stb should drive to each satellite that you have "ticked/checked" and scan the channels in. i dont really know the menu structure on your box but it should have a menu/install/channel scan and if in multi-sat mode when you select astra2 you should be able to change it either by pressing left/right or maybe pressing ok will bring up the selected sat list. sods law is i installed one for a work collegue but it was on a fixed dish so i didnt look into the multi-sat menu,s. dont worry mate it will be something simple. regards mdt

Beginning to think I may have line of sight issue; but honestly dont see how; I have the dish moving in diseqc mode but doesn't appear to be finding any signals except at 22 East as I have freesat and hotbird?

I installed the dish on a pole (perfectly plumb) at rear of garden approx 20/25 feet back from house. Pointed due south with motor at 0, nothing to my west as am detached and last house down.(so I would expect to find some signals 20,30,40, 50 deg west) Cant even find Atlantic Bird at 5w and thats pretty high in the sky?
It is approx 9 feet up to centre of dish (90cm Triax offset) and the dish is bathed in sunlight all day so it seems to be tracking suns path??

Bit of a mystery, but will keep at it!!

I have searchd again with signal meter attached and am picking up signals at various locations;, problem is you cant tell from the humax what satellite you have locked
just west of south which i think was Atlantic bird 3; several signals on the way east also ;but the sig str and quality bar on receiver not acknowledging anything; I wonder if all the :proud::proud:TPs listed in receiver menu are "Active"

if you use usals and get thor@1w spot on then all the others should fall into place. from what your saying it seems like your getting the powerfull sats eastwards and theres only a couple of sats after 5w that are worth recieving anyway unless you want them all(like me:proud:). id say start afresh with a factory reset and set your motor to zero and take your time in the menu,s untill you have your lat/long ok and the dish drives to 1 west via usals. although i use diseqc 1.2 myself my motor is set to usals as it makes things a great deal easier when constantly plugging in and unplugging recievers. if you are going to use 1.2 then go to lyngsat or flysat and make sure you have a active transponder selected when storing your satellite positions into memory and dont duplicate them on close by satellites. regards mdt
