will 4.5 unregulated 500ma ac adaptor work my video recorder

i have a video recorder requiring in put 5vol at 1amp. it eats batteries, i have a 4.5ma unregulated adaptor with 3 4.5 and 6 but no 5 will i do any damage if i use the 4.5 pse a quick reply would be much appreciated as ive friends coming tomorrow and i want to use it but no batteries left

you have your reply in your info

needs 1amp your power supple 4.5ma = not going to work

to give you a clue on how far you are off 1000 mA= 1A

Erm, think he said 500mA at 4.5V - still won't work but not so bad You should be able to get a PSU that will do that for not a lot...

You're right, but it's a bit confusing looking at the subject??? I THINK he meant 4.5V at 500mA...what PSU comes in at 4.5mA? Wouldn't power jack lol

thanks to you all for your quick replies will have to nip to maplins and get one with the correct spec i thought i may get away with the one i have but was frightened to try it incase i caused damaged to the device.thanks again to you all
