Work.... Where else?
First you need to get on the newest Kinect Dash. To do that use Easy freeboot 0.4. I have used it and it works extremely easily.

Download:

1. Open EFB
2. Check needed option(s)
Donor Files - I have not tested so Use at own risk
Aud_Clamp Fix. Also known as Alt SMC- if this is done on your box
you must check this.
If incorrectly checked/unchecked your box will not
boot
3. Select your Nand image
I used original unsure if XBR/freeboot will work
4. Enter your Cpu key
5. Verify motherboard revision
6. Allow dos Prompt to finish and save your New nand

Now you need to get this on your Xbox

1. Make sure new nand is named updflash.bin
2. Place on usb drive and insert into Xbox
3. Boot Xbox using eject key to start Xellous
4. Xbox will auto update and prompt to power cycle when done
5. Unplug xbox for 10 seconds and then plug in and try to boot

Assuming all previous steps have completed properly move on to getting avatar/ Kinect support.

1. Download 12611 update

5. Restart the console.
6. When the console restarts, the installation program starts automatically.
Select Yes when you are prompted to update the new console
software.

Finally Install DashLaunch 2.03

Just to say for some reason I couldn't use (update) using Xellous, had my flash drive formated in FAT and FAT32 and I made sure the file was called updflash.bin but no luck.

Anyways I finally remembered the tool called Flash360 and I used it to flash the updflash.bin and it worked :)

Here is the link incase if someone else has my probolem.

Now I am running on 2.0.12611.0 with all Avatar/Kinect and DashLaunch working :)

Thanks

do i have to rejtag my machine for this to work.
sorry am a complete noob to this

is something of flashing involved, or is everything usb flash drive based

I have been trying this but my original nand files are corrupted and have made a backup of xbr nand and it gives an error unable to find sysupdate.xexp1

I was on 8955 dash had to update to 9199 and then 12611 to get it to work but all ok now.

Can't do this until get my jtag fixed :(:(:(

For xellous to update, for me at least in the past, you have to pull out the power of the 360 for a few minutes/seconds.....otherwise it wouldnt boot the update from the usb stick.

Hi Andy and Welcome to DW.

Yes, as long as you are on Freeboot 12611 you be fine.

Also my advice would be to remove or bridge the R6T3 resistor to stop any update over writing your jtag setup!

Have a look at these picture if you want to do this:
