Ps2 controller ribbon cable

Hi guys, working on a daft project to keep me busy, and I was wondering if its possible to get a longer ribbon cable that connects the controllers to the main board. All the ones I've see are straight replacements. If I found out the width of the cable would a.generic one work? Added pic to explain my ramblings

Amazon Count how meny pins are on the cable and see if you can get a longer one ?

Sorry to sound dumb but is that all I need to do match how many pins? I didn't know if they were specific to the console or is a ribbon cable universal
