Hey guys

Please could you help me understand how inadyn works.
I set it up on my dd-wrt router and it updated the ip immediately:
Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.

however, when the ip changed again, it didn't update.
I forced an IP change by power cycling my primary router to do this.
heres the log:
Code:
You don't have permission to view the code content. Log in or register now.
I had to go into the router, and re-apply the settings to get it to update the ip.

Here is how my network looks at the moment:

EE brightbox adsl router --> dd-wrt router in repeater bridge --> VU+ server

I've tried installing inadyn on the VU+ it updated the IP but then I opted to install it on my primary router to save cpu on the vu+ server.
I think it was working on the primary router, but then the router started behaving erratically (may not necessarily be due to ddns, i was tinkering with a few things) so i decided to use the ddns feature on my ddwrt router, however its not updating correctly

Please can somebody advise on how best to set this up.

Cheers

CF

Looking at that setup you have the DD-WRT router connected to another router ! So the dd-wrt router does not see the ISP IP it needs to see to allow inadyn to update. In bridge mode it sees a ip given to it from the EE router.

For the dd-wrt to update your isp IP it needs to be the main router.

The above is nonsense if the EE router is in a modem only mode but you dont mention its role.

You can change the interval your dd-wrt router sends the ip under additional DDNS Option ( Not all DD-WRT Firmwill will have this ) to

Additional DDNS Options --forced_update_period 900

This will force it to send an update 900 seconds/15 mins
