hi there is there any beginners guide for roku?

Is there a particular bit you're stuck on?

Initial setup can be a bit of a faff and I prefer to add channels from the website than the device itself.

Official channels? Most will use the Channel Store on the device, find the channel you want, open the description of the channel, then select add channel.

You can also add the likes of Netflix from the US website. Go to roku.com, find the channel page and the area you want e.g. movies and TV. Each channel has an add channel button on the description page. (The UK roku website doesn't currently have this feature.)

Unofficial channels? You'll have to side load them using the developer mode. An example can be found on the Plex install guide for the Now TV box (which is based on the Roku LT): http://www.digitalworldz.co.uk/roku-605/378892-now-tv-box-plex.html

anyone got amazon films added to roku yet ? cant add from webpage and no listing in box . , tried on the webpage using vpn but must know its a uk box

No Amazon Prime Instant Video for the UK market as yet.

Hopefully it'll be forthcoming, now the rebranding from LoveFilm is done on the consoles.
