beIN SPORTS has announced the launch of the first phase of a new campaign to protect its subscribers from TV piracy by securing the encryption of ten of its HD channels. The campaign will begin on March 1, and is the first step in securing the entire network ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2014 in June.

Roger Hall, Managing Director of beIN SPORTS MENA, said, “beIN SPORTS is determined to protect the rights of its subscribers. Since last November, TV piracy has caused disruption to our broadcast of some English Premier League football matches, prompting us to take these proactive steps.” “We are committed to delivering an unrivalled viewing experience to our subscribers, and to making sure they do not miss out on top events or pay a higher price because of the illegal actions of others.” Hall added.

Subscribers can register their existing Humax HD Free or Humax IR-3000 HD Free receivers by visiting the beinsports.net/register or calling the contact center on +974-4442-2346. Alternatively they can purchase the newly launched, affordable beIN set-top boxes from their local dealerships.

beIN SPORTS recently unveiled nine exciting new HD channels, in Arabic, English, French and Spanish, to all existing subscribers. These channels were provided as a free introductory offer to celebrate the launch of the new beIN SPORTS brand. However, starting from March 1 these new channels, in addition to beIN SPORTS 11HD, will become fully secure and only accessible to subscribers who have registered their receiver and smart card with beIN SPORTS.

The entire beIN SPORTS network will switch to secure mode later this year in advance of the FIFA World Cup 2014.
