3D Printed Guns

I've heard about these since 3D printing began but can't get my head around it. Surely you can't 3D print in metals strong enough to withstand the detonation of a bullet?

I think the body of the gun is in plastic and rest of the moving part’s are in metal from what I gather.

All of the gun is plastic, bar the firing mechanism iirc. That is the only metal part of the gun. However i've seen fully plastic guns now, but im not sure how they work. Someone also designed a semi auto 3D version now too.
