I plugged my Twin in last night first time since Christmas to see what fixes had been applied to latest image (Beta) 8-10/3/12 :err:

from what I can gather its not on general sale but is sold if you take up the trade in offer ? anyway to me they are not official beta testers and paid for there box, so have every right to post there findings

Ive not tested everything but had a little play

opentv is painfully slow downloading epg @ around 11 minutes, and still misses lots and lots of channels, after searching via FTP after 4 scans of epg there was no epg.dat file anywhere on the box
just checked now and the epg.dat file is there but no ext.epg.dat

Picture quality is very nice :) and audio levels are the same on SD and HD channels :)

considering the amount of ram and memory it has I dont find it much faster than my clone dream tbh maybe thats due to the amount of code the box is reading before choosing the right command for the correct box ?

skins are sparse in plugins but will try my own manually with IPK, dont like that it has a adult plugin as standard :(
after pressing loads of menu commands and stuff I did before that caused green screens as yet I havent had 1 :)

saying all that there have been many many improvements and this is a vast improvement on the TM800 :)

I just hope a real source code is released so images can be complied by other teams and its not only Open Vix that can be compiled from but Open PLi too, this is debatable though from what Ive heard :(

will try recording etc later :)

any other Twin owners feel free to post your findings :)

I've also noticed that now and next on the infobar doesn't update while your on the channel, if you stay on the channel for say 2hrs , 4 programmes at 30 minutes
if you haven't switched channel it will still show the 2 programmes from the first hour

hope that makes sense lol

done a recording while Ive been out just played a little of it back and seems fine :) FF>> upto x128 and resumed playback fine, not watching it all but the 10 minutes Ive watched has been OK :)

will soon try some media files

Please if you have traded your 800 in or bought the twin we would be happy to hear your comments too :) good or bad :)

I always set the aspect ratio to switch when the broadcast changes to 4:3 (older programmes like on Gold)

this feature did work on the twin before as I set it up, just gone into A/V Settings to change this, you can see it change when you select it :) as soon as you hit green to save and return to TV the picture is stretched again :(
looks as though with updates code has been disabled

:(

Just tries some media files from USB
avi played with sound :) but a little jerky like missing a frame rate
xvid same as above
BRRip same as above
3D sbs HD played perfect
so overall pretty good :)

on the last xvid I played I FF >> when I hit play/pause to resume picture froze and sound carried on, pressed stop, then got iQ spinner, picture still frozen no sound
Off/On from rear to get back to TV

scanned EPG with Rytec and brought in pretty much everything :) so although OpenTV dont really work Rytec does so you can still have full EPG :)

Sounds good but still dont know whether to hold on to the TM800 cant really afford to exchange yet

overall Twin is much better :) but after a couple more little bugs its going back in the box and plug the dreambox back in

shame the others didn't want to add to the feedback :(

I think the fact that you are putting it back in the box and replacing it with a single tuner DM speaks volumes atm mate. Only good value solid linux Twin tuner = Vu+ DUO?

Hmmm silence is golden why no other reviews are you sworn to secrecy? And before anyone jumps on my back im sure there is a lot of potential buyers that are waiting for a review but at the moment cant access any info

I find it very very ominous that there are no in-depth reviews for this receiver by now, and i can only see that as a sign that either TM them selves are unsure about the receiver or their beta testers are scared to comment for fear of inducing the wrath of TM.
Ialso think its a potentially damaging move as like you said there will be a lot of people out there who would happily buy the receiver if a honest review of it were available. However going from TM's previous track record with E2 receivers and in my opinion the total inability of their image team ( IQ ) to produce a fully functioning image a lot of people will hold on to their money rather than becoming a live but unknowing beta tester for TM.

tbh its not that the box is rubbish I decided to pack it away, its come on leaps and bounds since Christmas if Im honest, but imho its not ready for general sale

with other people not posting there findings I dont know if whats happened to me is a fluke or a real bug

last night I did an online update, went fine the box booted back to Sky Sports that I was watching :) I went to turn over to BBC and the picture froze and just had sound from SS still
I restarted enigma, still the same, restarted box via menu, same again, I had to Off/On from rear for the box to have any response, now was that a fluke ? a one off as linux boxes are funny things lol

Ive also found pressing 0 dont take you back to last viewed channel like it used too, a couple of other things that have skipped my mind now tbh

Im not in it for nothing ! not to make TM happy and not to slag them off either, I just find it wrong that its being sold as part exchange and people are handing over there hard earned cash where there is no real information about it,so thought Id post with things that Ive found in the short time Ive had a play.... like it or not, I will say it how it is good or not so good, in fact Im trying to sell mine so Im not doing myself no favours saying negative things lol
to me the members @ DigitalWorldz have a right to know how the box is working, especially those that have already wasted £250 on the TM800 and are likely to PX

with the Duo price drop this will certainly struggle

LOL i'm not having a pop at TM although i have not used one of these receivers i have seen one working first hand many many months ago, my gripe is the lack of information about it. I understand NDA's may be in place as they were with the ultimo so i can understand if thats the case but all this is the box released or not talk is doing TM no favors.

I also hope that the IQ team can take comments on board which i know first hand they have not with regard to this image in certain places. Hopefully they can get their fingers out and release a box that will compete with the Duo and give us some real competition between the manufacturers as we the users will be the ones to benefit. but so far have failed even with something as simple as the price of the box and continually missing the release dates etc etc etc.

I didn't think you was having a pop mate :)

Ok seeing as I own one of these boxes, and have tested personally I feel its about time I made some comments. Since March the latest images imo have bought the box up to par with my VU+ Duo, recording works, media playback is good, speed wise it is just as fast as my Duo I havent timed anything down to the second but it is by no means slower. Havent had any green screens, the remote supplied is a univeral one which can be programmed with a list of hundreds of models. Works fine with my LG tv so no real need for HDMI-CEC plugin which currently I cant get to work with TV on my Duo.

Everything about the box IMO is ready, obviosuly plugins are 3rd party so some might not work but I guess this will be slowly fixed in future releases. Nothing like the TM800HD and side by side basic comparison between the DUO and TWIN I probably couldnt pick between the two. Final retail price will be the key factor IMO but its a good box and does what it should.

My feedback is my own and I have in no way have anything to do with TM, iQ or any other teams.

Really ?? if the Twin is on par with the duo why does the duo get ravers saying its the best ?
seriously this is on par with duo?

I respect you posting what you think mate :) but Im really shocked at that statement :Yikes: my expectations must be too much

its surprising this isn't released now then

I appreciate you posting :) thank you

Bally do you not get any of the problems I posted on page 1 ?

like I said previous many many things have been fixed and its is coming along nicely :) but there are bugs to be fixed too :)

Not quite sure which bits on page 1 you mean but give me a specific thing to test and I will tell you if its working or not. I only use rytec for epg and it takes the same amount of time to download on both vu+ duo and tm-twin-oe give or take a second or two. Like I said I have not tested anything to the exact second but on a real life day to day use I dont see any major issues worth moaning about. I also have epg and picons installed on internal memory with no noticable performance loss.

Theres no point in comparing the images as the vix image on the duo will be better than the iq image on the twin but functionality wise it does everything I do on my VU+ Duo but with a few plugins missings.

Another thing worth noting is, I am not a VU+ Duo fanboy or a TM Twin fanboy I am just a regular user who wants a box that does what I need and currently both do exactly the same things I want. Which is fast zapping, recording and playback of the recordings, displaying of epg and streaming occasionally to pc.

The Duo does having working auto standby plugin so kudos to vix team for that but im sure this is a 3rd party plugin which should be able to be installed on the twin. However the Twin has a univeral remote which means I only need one remote to turn box and tv on. The Duo does have HDMI-CEC but I cant get it to work.

If someone was to PM me and ask which box to go for (PLEASE DO NOT PM ME ASKING THIS) I would probably say go for the one which is the cheapest or with the TWIN if you need RF out, that reminds me I need to test whether Magic Eye works.

Hope this has been useful.

seriously this is on par with duo?

Answer to that is simple, it has an established team behind with regualar updates. I was one of those who said the same but in the last few days the TWIN has proved it self to me and my opinion is both are on the same sort of level, so if other teams work with this box such as ViX an BlackHole then the will defo both be on par but remember my opinion is only worth the paper its written on and this is a online forum so no paper involved ;)

just check my posts on page 1 mate think Im the only poster :)

ratio switching
0 back to last viewed channel
couldn't turn over channel after online update
from memory, will need to check page 1 if there was any more

Im glad you posted Bally :) and I thank you for sharing your testing experience with us :)
