Seeing as though the twin is (supposed to be) out tomorrow, does the box have rf out? And does anybody think it will get any images from vix or blackhole? Or am I better off just going down the original vu route?

its got RF out. The beta images are built around the openViX source

Just to add to this, don't expect to see this on shelfs this afternoon.
TM will NOT be rushing the release of the twin untill the public software has been released, tested and approved.
And there is no way this will happen today.

TM have said any persons that wish to take up there TM800 owners or TM800 px offer may register there intrested now and no money's or goods will be exchanged until such a time the twin has been approved for release.

As for Vix and or blackhole making images for the twin, I guess you would be better asking them.

this is all very confusing for potential buyers :( we have seen an email from TM to a member stating the release was today ?? now you say its deffo not today :err:
jeez my head is spinning here

so thats the TM800 and the twin now that has missed numerous released dates
just an observation here, but there is no rush now to release the twin really is there, because there are no major HD sporting events on ;)

BlackHole team are currently officially supporting VU products as are VIX. I suppose if they are contracted to VU it may depend on the terms and conditions of that contract... Dont think VU will want software being produced for one of their potential competitiors...
The rest depends on whether the teams mentioned;

a) Are willing to get involved with TM knowing the track record so far...
b) Are TM willing to pay the cash for official support from a decent development team, they dont work for free...

Using OpenVIX and OpenPLI etc...is not the same as official paid support from development teams. The OpenVIX and OpenPLI source code is freely downloadable by anyone to mess around and try to compile/modify etc. Basically it will be UR/IQ/DS working on freely available Open Source Code....

Release dates cant be speculated until such a time, beta testers have received final public image and have approved it.
I can see it easy saying "well it should be ready in x time so I will say x date for release"

Heres what TM want to say:

"My Apology to all
I was Wrong to be excited to announce dates,
From today 20-02-2012 for all our incoming new receivers throughout the year,
No more dates,
Will be ready when is ready"

to be fair Rickie it wasnt speculation, it was a written email to a member
I see TMs response, and Ive also seen them say they wont mention/give out release dates in the past

As far as i'm aware ViX are not under contract by Vu and were certainly not paid to produce images for them either. yes we get a certain amount of beta / test receivers ( and i dont mean boxes for every tester either ) from Vu so that we can test things on the boxes but there is no contract as such, otherwise we would never have ported images to xtrend / clarke tech.

Not to mention the 40 quid price rise...sure the price was originally quoted to be £299 and pre-release marketing hype was that it was supposed to cheaper than all other twin tuner linux recievers... It's now the same price as a DUO... So inaccurate release dates, pre release price rises ... very similiar to the TM800HD fiasco... I think the reason quoted for the price rise was increased exhange rate or something...it was somewhere in one of the deleted threads...

" TM-TWIN-OE will launch with RRP of £329,which was increased due to devaluing £ against usd "

It's better to miss release dates though than release something with incomplete software...So maybe there has been some progress..

are we talking about the olympic stadium or the software???

lol

both are questionable mate

Thanks for the reply guys, I do fancy the ultimo but its a lot of money, i`d lean towards tm with a proper vix image but I would imagine it will have a ur/iq image with various bits that never quite work for the forseable future anyway!

The twin does appeal as it has rf out and more memory than the duo but I think the image won't be good enough, but that's just my opinion from having a tm6900 super and a tm600, fortunately I have never owned the tm800!

TM: please give a few boxes to the Vix team so they can work their magic!

ordered twin today and got it for £239 and still kept my 800. I was told they are getting released on the 1st of March, I was going to buy a VU but i thought i would take a gamble.

I wont post the users name as I dont have his permission and unsure if he is a member here, but it was posted early this evening so recent information
