A week or so back i posted, about my tm800 constantly freezing from just normal use e.g. channel change, volume change.

i was told by Dr. Linux that i am doing something wrong and that he tested and it was working fine.
I have previously been on UR images, the last one they made which was working very well.

So today decided to give it another try with iQ and their latest 16/06/2011 image.

and been testing all day to find out whether i get same problem.

1). 16/06/2011 flash, factory reset and default channel list loaded followed line-by-line instructions.
2). After 30min testing no problem. Everything seems fine, had to turn off fast zapping which is so annoying in terms of the side effect.

3). The channel list which i have been using for past 4 months or so is catseyes which i find almost perfect and therefore have it backed up.
Transfer Catseyes channel list and thats when problems start, no immediate pattern can happen can happen within 5 min or within several hours of usage but it always happens.
Spinning cogs come up from something as simple as channel change and then the whole box is frozen, once it occurs once then it happens over and over again every min or so.

4). SO i went and got the latest catseyes channel list from net 24.06.2011 in case old one was somehow incompatible. Got about 5 hours of usage before misery struck and got so pi**ed that just went back to last UR release which working perfectly.

Now i know many of you are thinking why do i complain rather than just the old image.

Simples - I expect my box to do all the features as in current iQ image but NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF BEING FORCED TO USED 1 CHANNEL LIST - makes linux pointless.

So please DR.LINUX explain this!

I guarantee anyone can produce same result as me.

2 things are needed:

16/06/2011 iQ image + 24.06.2011 catseyes enigma 2 channel list.

Please team iQ sort this out.
It would make the box almost perfect.

the image posted today had a fix for the .xml files that seemed to cause this problem m8

i also use catseye channel list and on the first iq image everythign runs fine, i tested the one the op has spoke about and a simular thing happens to me, it doesnt freeze the box but as good as, the cogs appear and they just stay there, cant press any buttons or anything and when i turn box off/on it just boots up into the cogs, i have also tested the latest image dated 24-06-2011 and my tm800 does the same thing, as soon as i transfer catseye channel list over everything goes wrong, ive tried transfering using dreamset which i used all the time and ive also tried dreambox edit, but for me the latest image is still not compatible with catseye channel list, so ive just gone back to the first image iq released and all is fine again, thanks

Everytime I load a new image I find switching the box off overnight gives me the best results, rather than just turn off for one minute.

there is no science to this, and maybe just in my head...but the box never seems to freeze the following days

do you use catseyes ?
if turning off the box worked then they wouldn't have released an image with the fix.
I use catseyes and had this problem but to be honest now I have vhannibal the way I want it I prefer it.

I can imagine using other famous config channellist is a must but what is wrong with Dreamboxedit and making your own
channelist and uploading it to yr box ?
I've had similar problems on other type of linuxboxes as described in this thread but when I took the time to make a list of my own I had the feeling of having total control of my channellist and had no more problems....
Also some channel frequencies (mostly HD channels) will never work on a given channellist and you will have to rescan them again.

My mate had same problem everytime he loads catseyes settings dreaded cogs and lock up i will ask him to try other settings and report back
Thanks for the heads up guys.

I have mentioned a couple of times in previous posts about a problem with my TM800HD. When I do a timer recording all I get in playback is audio but no video. I am using extenal powered hard drive, I have tried a few different models all same result. I have formatted them and all the usual stuff. I set a recording last night just using the epg to record a programme starting at 9 oclock, it was a new serious starting and the otherhalf wanted to record it while we watched a dvd. Film over I then went to playback recording and the above issue happened. My wife nearly fooked the box out the window as it is happening every time she wants to record somting. Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this as I am on my last legs trying to keep this box as I like it myself now.

I ended up buying a freeview+ HD box in the end to at least record series as you mention on fta channels

the wife watched the whole series of something on Universal Channel although couldn't watch the last episode for some reason, so I recorded it on TM, guess what "it never recorded properly" wife was livid :(

I would be tempted to but another sata to try it but the last one didnt work and anyway Dr Linux has been telling everyone to use sata/usb converter. The last release was a joke, timer ticking down my optimism is fading unless somone can tell me otherwise.
