I have just tried the new patch (116p) for the M3 courtesy of manic01's upload.

It has definitely addressed the picture quality issue which is much better, although I still feel the M2 is slightly better, but I might be being too subjective here, I don't have two identical TVs side-by-side to do an accurate comparison.

But by far and away the main problem still exists, the terrible recording! If you record one channel and then change channel it stops, fast forward and rewind doesn't seem to work at all, clearly this needs to be addressed. Even better, fix the audio/video sync issues with the M2!

Be interested to hear from other members as to their experience with this patch.

I cant believe phantom is still releasing patches for technomates that don't even work properly, even for basic functions like rewind. seems like he likes to waste his own time !

haha, phantom? its Richard @ tm who does the patches I had some very long phone calls with him about the m1 recording problem, patch came out to fix it shortly after. then the next patch reverted back to the same problems. same old technomates, release something before its been tested. sort of put me off buying another tm box to be honest
I can't believe you think there is a phanthom lol.
As for the rec issues, theres been no other feedback regarding that issue?

If you know TM so well, you will know Richard does not know how to make the patches.
All, done by Kor engineers, part of the deal when you buy oem stb and put your fw on it.

just going on what he told me that's all, he claims to write them and his avatar on tm community forum is phantom. either way, whoever does write them need to properly test them before they are released, maybe the forum should have beta testers, god knows I have tested enough I should do it myself. just seems like us tm owners get fobbed off with buggy fw on every box they release

What sync issues on M2? On recordings or normal channel use?

All M2's suffer from audio/sync issues on 27.5W when first powered on and when changing channel, it usually only lasts 10-20 seconds and then goes back into sync.

F3/5's and M3's do not suffer with this issue, it has been discussed on here several times mainly in the 'intelsat 907' thread.

Here is my post from 17th April:

'Re: Tm5402hd m3

Okay, factory reset and flashed it with 114p (the only patch), added keys and channel list, here are my findings based on reception at 27.5W:
First impressions were good, no lip sync issues (unlike the M2), picture quality was very good, about the same as the M2 but definitely better than the F3/5.
The machine is actually slightly smaller than the M2, same width but not as deep. Has the advantage of a USB on the front as well as the rear.
GUI is different from the M2 and is the same as the F3/5, which is okay, I probably prefer it.
It was all going very well until I tested the recording facility with my 320Gb Toshiba ALU-E USB powered drive, normally attached to my M2, very very poor! Time-shifting seemed to work okay, however, when I tried recording BBC1 HD whilst watching ITV HD the problems started, the live picture (ITV HD) kept glitching constantly, almost as though the speed was changing all the time, totally unwatchable. I then tried the recording of BBC1 HD which kept freezing and would not FF or RW, simply freezing all the time again.
This is a huge bug that needs to be sorted out.

So for me personally, the M3 needs the recording bug sorted out before I would consider keeping it because I use time-shift and recording all the time.

I haven't tried it yet with c/s, but have heard it is very poor as well, will report on that soon.

I would be keen to hear other peoples impressions of this machine in comparison.'

Trevortron also reported the recording bug.

I will test tomorrow morning, maybe I just never noticed it.
Would of thought there were loads moaning if there was an issue, but if it rectifies itself quick maybe they don't bother?

As it only affects 27.5W it has never really been an issue before, also as you quite rightly say it rectifies itself fairly quickly so it isn't a massive problem, the annoying thing is that both the F3/5 and M3 do not suffer with it.

I dont personally use the recording feature but i know it has been mentioned previously on the official so called Technomate community forum, the problem is there is that many 'Fanboy's' swooning over there on how good the STB's actually are with there 'FREE' Receivers initial working features are being forgotten about. That as @manic01 rightly pointed out over there should have been fixed from the off before the STB should have been released.

So personally although i cant complain about the support for the TM's its actually not bad, But again as manic pointed out the Korean software writers dont just write firmware for one STB they also have the other brands to write for so when 1 thing gets fixed its destroyed later when they try and add a feature.

I would recommend heading over there and airing your frustration but if its anything like i feel your pissing against the wind

I have registered & posted, but their forum is about as buggy as their patches! Oh, and my jeans are now rather wet & smelly :STIG:

Dont want to rock any boats here but I have found the recording on 'normal channels, e.g. Sky UK, to work perfectly for me - i.e. set up Darts last week from EPG, switched M3 off (standby) - and it came on perfectly and recorded over three hrs of darts on my 500 GB ext hard disc - then switched itself off again, no probs - plus played back perfectly!
The only PVR prob I've found - and Phantom has promised to rectify, is that TM6900HD Super recordings wont play back on the M3 for some reason!
As for 27.5W, I personally dont use that very often and certainly havent tried recording from it - so cant really comment on that - if that is what we seem to be discussing at least in part on this thread?
Hope my comments may help, but sorry if they dont! lol!!

(All this on patch 116P)
