Hello all

This is my first post out here but is not some time that I am looking after Technomate 5402HD and its Biss possibilities.
Basically I am looking for a reciever to use after the Freesat channels will be moved to the new Astra 1E and the only way for me to continue watching them will be pointing at 27,5°W.

Here are a very few questions for the owners of the Technomate 5402HD:

- Is it working right now on BBC channels at 27,5°W (november 28 2013)?
- Does it record subtitles and are these playable?
- The .TS Technomate file format is the same as the Enigma2 one?
- Any other advice?

Thank you very much

It works perfect 27.5w bbc atm.
Just checked and no subtitles were available on any of the channels.
Just tried rc on 28e and the subs did not record, which is not suprising.
No idea what format e2 uses.

Thank you very much manic01 for the quick and exaustive reply.
The strange thing is that with e2 and when PMT was unencrypted, subtitles were available and I was able to record and play them as well. So I think something is different on Technomate.
By the way, does the receiver records subs on other channels/TPs/Satellites??

Thank you again

So, it seems that is the Technomate that doesn't record any subs.
Thank you very much - your tests have been very usefull.

ive just tried this, im afraid theres still a few too many leaves on the tree behind my house to get past 12.5W at the moment :(

That sounds like the old British Rail excuse.. only in their case it was 'the wrong type of leaves'!!!

Thank you digidude, it was so kind of you to try.
I really do like to sort this out before the switch

Yes they are. I am using a Gigablue with E2 on board. When they aren't I can record subs and then play them.
It is such a pity that this can not be done with Technomate so I have to find some other solution.

OK, well do keep us informed if you find something... always interesting

Me again with two other questions :)
I checked the UK channels and some e2 recordings from them at 28.2E. And as a result I noted that

- These channels have not only DVB embedded subtites but they do have also Teletext/Ceefax subtitles, reachable on teletext mode, page "888"
- Enigma2 records these as well. I checked on play mode, selecting TEXT and then 888 and the subtitles were there.

And here are the questions:

- Do the 27,5W channels have teletext subtitles on page 888?
- If yes, does the Technomate 5402 records and plays them?

Thank you again

Pressing the subtitles button simply results in the message 'No Subtitle'. Ceefax page 888 not available because pressing the text button results in message 'No Teletext'. Not sure if this is because no teletext service is being transmitted or if the TM 5402HD cannot decipher it. This feed is not entirely straightforward and the program info does not come up in the EPG either, so there may be some teletext in there somewhere if anyone is in the know?

Good post mate - but how many on that list do you think we can open with the latest Biss keys?

I agree. This is a very good and exaustive answer.
As i wrote, these days those channels do not work on enigma 2 so i can not check by myself.
By the way, back in june I am sure that I was able to decrypt them and the channels all had epg, dvb subtitles and teletext.
So, something has changed in the meantime or, as Martillo states, is th Technomate that does not read them.

I used to have epg on june. I thought that it might be because of crossepg plugin that I use on enigma 2 (for those who do not know, it is a small app that downloads epg from the internet and then displays it with the channels)
But I continue to use it and now even on enigma2 I have no epg on those channels.
Very strange.

Thanks both - but as Holmroad has hinted there are some issues, not least when I got all set up I found that the BISS key I had (dated July 13) had already changed, but after only 15 mins hunting I found new ones ;)

The BISS has to be entered and each channel individually linked to it, plus all the V_PIDs, A_PIDs & P_PIDs have to be manually entered for each channel and I haven't finished working through the list yet. So far all the BBC SD channels except CBBC + CBeebies (haven't tried those yet) have cleared, BBC Radios 1-6 also cleared, possible problem with ITV1 HD but not sure, I'll come back to you and let you know when all done.

Cheers.

Never been an epg that I've seen on those channels.

Never seen an epg on either my patched TM6900HD Super OR my current patched TM5402HD M2 - neither have subtitles ever worked - not for ME at any rate!!
