Hi,

Can anyone please advise me how to get a BISS key into a TM-8000 HD.

I have got the phantompatch on the receiver, gone into the system info area and then key edit then BISS, selected add key but I cannot get it to enter correctly.

All I have is a 16 character set of alpha and numerical values (E5 4E F2 etc) but dont know any provider info etc, do I need that?

If you have the Biss menu up with the 16 digit combination then you only need to enter that key and nothing else

I have got that up OK and entered the key, is there anything else I need to do to get the channel to look for the key in the list as it is not clearing?

Nope thats pretty much it enter the key press exit which will save the key and then that also should lock it to that channel, Unless the key is wrong

I have tried entering the key into a TM-8000 HD Combo and also a TM-5200D, both flashed with a phantompatch.

The key is accepted and saved OK but the chanel is not clearing. I cannot remember if I need to change a setting so that the keys are activated or if I need to activate the phantompatch?

I am fairly sure the key is OK as it is was reported working yesterday and is generally available on the internet for a channel on 9E (Eurofootball Gonki, 11,920V, 27500), the 16 character key I am using is in the attached text file. I would be grateful if anyone could test it out to see if it is clearing in a Technomate receiver?

Key is good.
Make sure you are on the channel you want to open when entering biss keys.
Also after the 16 digits enter all zeros after.
Each biss channel that needs clearing will need to be entered individually whilst on that channel ie you cannot enter multiple biss at once.

Nope, did not work, I have to be doing something wrong here or missing some step?

Just to test it, I started from scratch:

1. Factory reset.
2. Scanned the satellite to get the channels.
3. Menu -> System Information -> BISS Menu -> input the BISS key while on the channel. Entered the 16 characters of the key, followed by 16 zeros on the TM5200D entry row.
4. Exited all menus, saving as proceeding.
5 Back to channel - zilch !!

Do I need to apply some setting somewhere else to get the receiver to look at the list of BISS keys or is this done automatically by the phantompatch?

Hi Pimpur Crack,

I know that this has been stated by both Merliin & Abu Baniaz about the TM 5302 HD...

Biss keys update manually ok (switch receiver to standby for new data to take effect)

I wonder if you also have to follow this procedure with the TM 8000 HD...?

NB
TM 8000 HD also uses .tbn file format like the TM 5302

I hope this helps...

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Zorch,

Yes, I have tried putting the TM-5200 into standby after entering the key while on the channel.

For a few seconds I get audio but no video, then the audio goes and I get the "Scrambled Channel" message.

I just can't fathom out why this is not working unless there is a fault with the LNB that is somehow impacting on the BISS code and the receiver. However, the channel is being picked up on a blind scan and I have ~75% signal.

Hi again Pimpur Crack,

Try this mate...

Select the channel > Press 8-2-8-0 > Enter the full 32 character set > Press Exit > Save the changes > then before the BISS menu disappears from the screen (and goes back to the channel) switch the receiver OFF using the power switch on the rear of the receiver... leave it switched OFF for 30 seconds... then switch it back ON again...

Best Wishes,

Still no luck, tried the 8280 then entering the key, saving and turning it off and on reboot still no video, I do however have audio.

The odd thing is that for some other BISS channels I can get a picture such as MGM ME and Hustler TV. I presume they are using the BISS key that is either inbuilt into the phantom patch or the softcam file I loaded.

Perhaps if I could get the key into a softcam file it might work?

If its asking for provider in the menu enter the freq ie 011919 if thats the freq you entered for euro channel.

The TM-5200D does not ask for a Provider, the TM-8000 HD has a field where the provider details can be entered but the field length is restricted to two characters.

I have an old Manhattan XTF receiver in the loft, I am not sure if it is patched or if it needs to be patched to accept a BISS key, I might give that a go to see if I have any joy away from Technomate.

Finally, I also have a dreambox dm800se clone but I am not sure if these can accept BISS keys, I might need to visit the dreambox section of the forum to find out if that is possible. With the dm800se, I can FTP any sort of gubbins to the box with filezilla so if it's an option I will give it a try.

Thx for all your help everyone, if I do mange to get it sorted I will report back with the solution.

In the 8000 try of or ff.

Is that a Zero in the of or the letter O

In the TM-8000 HD there are 4 fields to be populated

Name (assume optional)
Provider (will try 0F or FF)
Key
Key Data (this is wwhere the 16 digit BISS code goes)

I am not sure what goes in the field named Key, it is restricted to two characters?
