I'm rather tempted to give other differences bewteen a TM500 and a DM500 lol
- NO PVR functionality , no mapping support (CIFS, SAMBA) towards external storage
- NO WORKING DYNAMIC DNS client
- Lack of Plugins like Tuxweather
-Subtitles not working (has anyone tried this already once ?

ive highlighted this many times in emails over the last year or so
I can see why this might be a low priority fix for UR team, knowing that most routers nowadays have a rather bullet proof DNS updater built in, but still it shouldn't be ignored.
Another difference is the ability to read the white card using Cccam only, and the price difference between a dm500 clone and a tm500,approximately twice the price!!
The CCcam issue has been there since the TM500/600 were released longer standing issue than the widescreen aspect ratio.
They havent mentioned, that the range of DM500 software images and plugins available is far superior to TM500/600... Gemini/OpenPLI/Nabilo/EDG Nemesis/Commando etc..Theres nothing on TM 500/600 except UR and some ported Dreambox images..
They also havent mentioned...DM600 has Enigma 2 images running on it ... you dont see any E2 images on TM500/600/super. Also Plug and Play DVB S/C/T tuners and analigu modem on DM600 not available on TM500/600.
Throw into the mix that DM500/600 are old models at least 5 years old...is the best TM can do release current models (rebranded ITgate recievers) to compete with 5/6 year old recivers...by DM...of which the 500 is no longer supported obsolete...says it all really..

It has been reported that all e1 plugins should work on the tm500/600 models but I havent tried so can neither confirm or deny this. Also the tm's have an analogue modem on the rear panel, whether the software supports it or not I dont know. I think possibly the TM's were introduced to take the dm500/600 up a notch, to make a good box better but TM's failure to release the source code from the start hindered this resulting in the other image developers unable to get onboard, thats just my way of thinking and my opinion only. Aesthetically the tm500 600 and 500 super are better than the dm and the hardware is (should) be superior to any clone.
I agree, cant say the hardware or build quality of clones DM recievers or originals for that matter is all that good...The software is where Dream seem to be ahead of most others, makes up for their poor hardware.
I would use TM500/Super instead of DM500 clones if they ran OpenPLI, I dont like UR Team images they are crap. Wiuld be nice if the CCcam issues were fixed as well. Currently theres no reason I can see to spend te extra on a TM500/600/Super over a 500/600 clone. I dont need the RF modulator...

Interesting thread guys, but who writes the release info? it smacks of unprofessionalism to have all those grammar and spelling errors on it, it makes it very difficult to understand.

as far as i know, ALL of the source code, began in german, for the Dbox2?? im sure someone will correct this if im mistaken

I used PLi images on my DM500 (before replacing it with my TM600) and that has the option to d/l images direct from server, i'm sure other images must have the option too...
I'm far from being an expert on the sat scene (or any scene for that matter) but I do recall being a member of a cable forum where the itgate was the preferred box, and the UR image (cable) had the facility to download via blue button so ya, nothing new there then..
Yup.,,,Satkings...and it's no co-incdence...TM500/600/800 all = ITGate recievers...rebadged as TM. The same crap devleopment team as well "UR Team".
The cable recievers that used to be "bigged" up on that forum were hideous ugly looking things...ridicously over priced as well...didnt they have silly nick-names as well from Pirates of the caribeam..."black pearl" etc...lol
Confirmed PLI E1 images have had the built in upgrade image from remote control feature for ages...so it's a false claim...Like most of the stuff in that text file....Mostly TM marketing propoganda..

was the TM800 not based on a ITGate TGS300 ? Ok the TGS300 didnt ever get releaed offiicially in ITgate branding..Described as the same product on TM800 Wikidot though...Looks exactly the same as well there plenty of ITgate TGS300 pictures floating around.
