Dish size seems to vary a lot across the UK for this transponder, I am in Bridlington east Yorkshire and this morning using a 1 meter dish I am getting S=80% Q=66% on my Spiderbox HD6000 and a perfect picture from Viasat Golf.
Where are you and what size dish do you have.

your dish is out slightly as you should be getting them in anything but very heavy rainfall..... in the north west uk(nr manchester) on 11.727.H.27500 im getting SS 94% SQ 84% on a triax td110cm dish, IBU twin and TM5302HD,regards mdt

I live I Keighley I can get nile sat on a good day I have a 1.2 prime focus dish

Silly question but we are talking about Astra 4A/SES 5 here I hope? it's actual position is 4.8e and if you are using USALS and have the position down as 4e then I would expect reduced S and Q levels. So please confirm if you are using DiseqC or USALS and if USALS what have you got for the satellites position?

Hi all,

Astra 4A at 4.8°E
SES-5 at 5.0°E

There is a slight distance (0.20°) between these two satellite positions... and it does make a big difference to reception... when I've peaked my Signal Quality on an Astra 4A (4.8°E) transponder... I then struggle to get the full Signal Quality available from the SES-5 (5.0°E) transponders... I have to tweak my dish very slightly to the East to obtain the best Signal Quality on these transponders... alignment on larger size dishes needs to be spot-on... especially so when you're outside of the intended coverage area/footprint...

Astra 4A Nordic Ku Beam
FlySat Astra 4A / SES-5 @ 4.8° East

SES-5 Nordic Ku Beam
FlySat SES-5 @ 5° East

Thanks to FlySat

I hope this helps...

Great info Zorch (as usual) the beam in question is BSS Nordic and the transponder 11727 H. Looking on kingofsat at my location it should be receivable using an 85cm dish I use a 1mtr and receive that tp well, however the quoted size of the dish varies widely accross the Uk and adding to that the 0.2 degree between Astra 4A and SES 5 the dish size and alignment could make a big difference to the received levels.
See here Reception Reports - KingOfSat

I use a seprate posisioner for my 1.2 meter dish and a 36 v moter h to h what is the best way to test the signail I get viosat fine in the morning and at night time no proble the dish is a prime focus unicorn dish 0.3 uni lbb regards simon
