Can anyone help all my channels on my spiderbox keep breaking up have down loaded patch to the letter but still having the problem can anyone help please

it is a problem sometimes with freezing and glitching and i take it you are talking about the gift channels as they call them
one thing to bear in mind is you will never get perfect viewing via bband and cs server it will never be like having the card in the slot
ok things for you to check as these can also cause breakup of pictures
what is signal quality and strength like do you get break up on fta channels if low sig strength and break up on fta channels dish could be misaliigned or lnb needs replacing
are you downloading or doing on line gaming with xbox etc as this will cause bband confliction and cause breakup
bad weather can effect sat signal and possibly bband as well
i used to own a spider and personally i could not put up with channels on one week off the next football matches stop start films going off before the end but remember its a free service with a few thousand boxes trying to conect for the main sports and evenings
so i thought i would go down the find a friend route but the spiderbox in some cases has problems with certain cccam servers and oscam unless things have improved over the last year
my advice check your set up and if all is ok it is a case of grin and bear it as some channels are better than others to watch and same as peak time viewing can be worse than off peak viewing
and as stated as with any bband conected box for viewing this has to be expected even a small private server can have problems and server needs maintenance or rebooting
hope this helps

Hi there
thanks for the reply it does happen on the free to air but also on the sky channels and movies i don't watch any of the sports channels only motorbike racing i don't have anything else conected only the spiderbox conected straight into the server i am with plusnet not sure if this is the best company to be with but my conection speed is quite good and don't have fibre optic in are area yet
have downloaded the patch on this site situation was better for about an hour then back to the same again
use to have a protex box before and also had a technomate w but my satelitte guy told me the spiderbox was the bees knees and to change to it
not that up on all this stuff so a bit in the dark but will get him to check the alignement and the lnb
thanks again

If your receiver is breaking up on FTA channels you have a dish alignment or LNB or cable fault, you can prove this by selecting a channels that is breaking up and pressing the info key twice you will then see the signal and quality bars. I'm sure you dish is slightly "off" position.
What you could also try is to connect to a KNOWN working SKY dish and see if the break up disappears this would give 100% assurance.

Hi there
thanks for your reply i will let my guy know what you have said and get it checked out i did mention this to him but as the tv is sometimes ok during the day he is blaming my internet so not really sure our bb speed about 10 which i have been told is quite enough to run the spiderbox so still none the wiser but thanks once again

Well although not affected as much as Freeview, satellite reception can be affected by the weather. I notice that on Astra2 the last couple of days the signal and quality on some transponders is way down compared to normal. I suppose a few tons (tonnes in metric) of snow in the sky makes it a little difficult for the signal to reach our dishes. BUT as your getting breakup on FTA channels the internet has bugger all to do with it. FTA channels do not use the internet only the "gift" channels use it so that rules out your internet connection.

It might help if you say if your dish is static or movable if you can move try finetuning.

thanks for all your positive comments my dish is a remote one which i can move it have tried an old static sky dish which i have set to astra which has been a lot better but in the evenings i do occassional lose the picture and the scambled message comes up on the p.a.y.g channels if this is what you call gift channels

I will try to make it clear there are NO channels on 28.2e that open with Ethernet NONE at all.
The FTA channels will NOT break up unless you have a dish problem, LNB problem or cables problem.
If you are getting breakup on Astra2 28.2e on the FTA channels FORGET Ethernet and internet as they are NOT used on the FTA channels it has to be down to your dish etc.
Please state how old your Spiderbox is.

hi there
thanks for the info my spiderbox is only 4 months old got it last september

its never the boxes prob its down to u m8 ...

This is hardly fair, this member has a problem with breakup of FTA channels, although it is possible the receiver has a fault the far greater probability is a misaligned dish surely you must know that.

OK lets prove it, if stormy norm took his receiver to a friends house who has a SKY dish and connected it to a KNOWN WORKING dish then all doubt would be removed!! Such an easy test to do and 100% guaranteed to show just what is wrong. THAT is why I suggested it at the start of the thread. Lets not blame the receiver OR sow doubts until this member carries out this SIMPLE and QUICK test.
Sorry to knock your attempted slur but maybe norm could post just what steps HE has tried before slagging off a well made receiver (I have three of them and my family have about 10 ALL of them working).

thanks everyone for your help i now have my fta channels my dish was slightly out of alignment the only other problem i have is that i have several satelittes listed n my spiderbox but the only ones i can get is astra and hotbird but a lot of the channels break up and i cant get anything on the other satelittes i have do you think this is because these aren't correctly lined up pls

@stormy norm
First great news that is was a dish alignment problem to be honest with you I never doubted it.
Ok mate lets try and see what can be done, please give the following details :
Location (just the town name nothing else please).
Dish size.
You get Hotbird and I'm guessing that the Astra is Astra1 or is it Astra2 (Astra1 will have a lot of German TV Astra2 all the good English channels BBC/ITV).
Are you using USALS or DiseqC to control your dish.
Also name a few of the channels that break up.
How old is your Spiderbox.
Are you using a line.
Does your Ethernet work.
From the above we can solve your problem

hi again
i am in bournemouth dorset

the box is 4 months old
my ethernet is ok and am using a main feed into my internet server box
my dish/box is set up onDiseqC

and astra 2c 31.5e and 1e/3a 23.5

intel
hispasat
telstar
but i can't get anything on any of the above satelittes, don't know if this is right
thanks stormy norm

OK mate the problem is whoever installed your dish used DiseqC, now if you used someone else's channels list it wont work. Now I will explain.
DiseqC needs the user to locate and store each satellite position he wants and can be a right pain in the rear.
USALS is an automatic location software and once you enter your longitude and latitude will calculate the satellites position AUTOMATICALLY, unlike DiseqC no further information is needed.
Right IF your dish and motor are correctly installed then all we need to do is select USALS and enter your coordinates.
So please PM me your post code and I will look them up for you.

@stormy norn are you getting my PM's to you?

Your approximate USALS coordinates are 1.9W and 50.7N

Do you need help installing them?
