My Sky HD box seems to be getting slower and slower.

If a power cycle it, seems better for a few days, but then begins to slow down. Sometimes it can take 10 seconds to either change channel or bring up a menu.

Any ideas?

bin it and get a real satellite receiver lol

what model is it m8?

Whenever my box decides to go on a go slow I go into the installer menu (services, 0 0 1 select) and choose planner rebuild, this gets it going again

Hope this helps :)

Does that wipe or clear any of the series links or recordings?

no, its the skybox equivilent of defragging your pc's hdd.

all it'll do is cancel anything currently recording as it also reboots the box!

planner rebuild as already mentioned, and maybe update software on box (power off box, hold BACK-UP button and keep pressed down, reapply power to box keeping BACK-UP pressed down and wait for all lights to appear on box) this will force latest software to be applied to box, takes approx 10-12 mins.

the make of your box should be moulded into the top centre rear of the box, if it's THOMPSON phone SKY and get replacement.

is your HDD almost full? this slows box down too.

my sky box was going slow
i discovered there was 236 episodes of spongebob recored and 78 episodes of house of annubis
f**k**g kids.lol

Strange you should mention this as my sky hd box has been the same since the last update .... might get tech out again an get it swapped out as keeps saying its overheating on system check when the cust serv ask me to run it.

Planner rebuild appeared to do feck all.

Trying a forced update.

@Highlander, the box is a couple of years old. I did not think Sky would replace them that old.

I was told recently by a sky engineer that you should only allow upto 70% full capacity on your hard drive for recording otherwise all hell starts to break loose. Try deleting some stuff or update the hard drive to a bigger one then do the planner rebuild.

they will under service plan or extended warranty, i have swapped stb boxes 10 years old for latest flow model, HD boxes 5 years old pvr4's for latest pvr5's

I dont have either extended warranty or a service plan with them :(

you can have my sky+HD box if you want it,only 18 months old. but i have taken the hard drive out of it so it hasent got one in... just swap out the drive from your broken box....

its up too you....

I had this problem on my old Thompson.
I replaced the caps on the power supply.
Still had the problem.

It turned out to be the hard disk, replaced the hard disk problem solved.

ring up ask to go through to retentions have a rant and say virmin offered you free box etc etc and they might decide to send you a new box in order to keep you :)
