Im after getting a new sat nav not overly worried about hacking it tbh

would like one with lifetime map updates

whats the best to go for ? TomTom or Garmin

Thanks

This will open a can of worms.... ;)

For me, I prefer TomTom for the ease of use, but the Garmins mapping is better.
Mine us built in, so I have not used an off the shelf unit for a long time. So I maybe taking pish now.

However I am sure the last Autoexpress test put the Garmin top.

tomtom for me , although there is one really big limitation depending on the user. you cant have more than 48 favourites saved for some reason. you can use poi instead but it really gets on my nipples.

Bought a Garmin on sale from halfords about 12 months ago that came with lifetime updates, think your given 2 or 3 a year, but I've only done it once and never been a problem. Nice screen, quick to connect basically easy to use

Was looking at the Garmin Nuvi 54 LM from Halfords
Although I wont ever use the Europe maps so looking to see if they have the same one for UK/ROI

but for the price may as well get the Garmin Nuvi 54 LM lol

I did think about that @shaun127 but thought of the data being used etc

Well I decided to go for the Garmin Nuvi 54 LM (£90) as I said in previous post, ordered via click and collect and off I went to collect :)

Got to Halfords and the one they had was display model and marked as faulty to be returned, Manger apologised and explained it was his fault and should of took it off the system for sale/reserve and gave me the Garmin Nuvi 2597 LM (£129.99) for the same price :Hit: this has loads more features

I have had several sat navs over the years, going back to tomtom one on a ipaq pda. Have tried Garmin and others, but always go back to tomtom.
