Right, for all you Navigo users. I have managed to get v7 going on it. Im using it so far and I got a Mini with a British rooftop flag as my cursor. Wicked!!!

Anyways, this is what I did.

First I downloaded it from here. The download did come with instructions but I didnt want to go all out using ActiveSync as those instructions say. So Im gonna give simplified version, one that I made (based on the original instructions) and used.

The download contains the following

MobileNavigator
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_v720.1802
CRACK

Do note, I have a 3.5" but the slightly newer model. I got mine first when FatBoy and Rat got theirs. Back in Jan/Feb time. That model had an external antenna. This version I have doesnt have one but it has a later o/s which means I can use ActiveSync.

So I have no idea if that earlier model would work. Bear in mind, there is no real modding involved but in theory I guess it should work.

Anyways enough of the spiel, here is what I did. But before you start, use a new SD card or backup your original as it is going to replace the mobilenavigator directory.

1. Copy the following two folders onto the root of your sd card
mobilenavigator
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_v720.1802
[/color]

2. Copy the TTN7 onto the root drive of your C:\ folder

3. Put the sd card in your Navigo, run the gps s/w (which should start tomtom). You will get an error message reading Activation Failed. Just click Continue. Then click Voucher and you will then get an iexplore.exe error message. Click "OK" then turn off your Navigo (hard reset).

4. Take out your sd card and open up ttnavigator.bif on the root of your sd card. Look up the Device ID on it. It is found on the line beginning "DeviceUniqueID=". (This should be a 10 digit code).

6. In the TTN7 folder right click on "Edit, Save, Open.bat" file and click Edit which will open the file in Notepad. Where it has "XXXXX-XXXXX" enter your DEVICE ID from the ttnavigator.bif file.

7. Save changes and run it. Suggest you run in cmd in order to check for any error messages. A file called United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-14.meta.dct[/color should appear in the TTN7 folder.

8. Copy this file to the United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_v720.1802 folder on the sd card.

9. Now put back in your sd card and start up tomtom and enjoy!!! Remember you might need to configure your gps, usual thing you did for v6. set baud rate etc

To change the car symbols, ensure you have a directory under mobilenavigator called art then another folder under that called cars. Then download some pics from here and off you go!

thanks guys. I hope you have success in getting it working. My first mistake was to put the maps folder in the tomtom folder like in v6 but it failed. Got it right 2nd time round.

Note, I have a v1, not a v2 so I expect it to work fine in v2.

Worked a treat. Cheers pks00

got it working m8 thanks :proud:

be nice if we could get v8 on the Navigo lol

reps en-route ;)

Thanks for info, managed the install no problems and it basically works.

However TT7 does not appear stable on my machine. I sometimes get out of memory errors and the Activation Failed problem. A cold reboot normally solves the problem. I have also seen these probs described on other forums.

My machine has not been hacked and TT7 is on a new SD card. TT6, MioMap 3.3 etc run with no probs, Decided to carry using TT6 as the benefits of newer roads and a few features are not worth the lack of reliability. May eventually migrate, when a ver thats more stable on my machine is available.

PS. pks00 who is that in your avatar? she looks like she belongs in another forum (for ladies with large chests), I am a member of.

Sorry to hear that m8. Ive had no problems. I initially had a memory problem but I reduced the number of POI's (weren't using them anyway) and after that it worked fine. Give that a go.

lol, thats the character called Sheila Jackson from that incredible c4 show Shameless. And yes, she is a bit big on the top :)

tried this several times without luck...TTv6 works no problem but V7 just wont....maybe its my Navigo version thats wrong...and I have the 3.5 one...any thoughts guys?

Yeah, that's what I thought - but I can't get past ' Activation Failed'
Sorry, this is not the correct activation code for the product 'United_Kingdom_and_the_Republic_of_Ireland'.

Been trying this on both Old style Navigo (the thicker one !?!) and the slim V2 version - can't get TomTom on either - I did have TomTom v6 on the older unit and been using it for months.

Really want to get TomTom 7 on both units - please !!

Thanks
Ian

That's what happens to me too...I've given up after a dozen attempts

have u tried all this from a formatted card? i know ur not stupid ;) keep trying mate

Yes new formatted card...then re-formatted it to FAT system, just in case...but one thing ive noticed...the instructions say run the save edit thingy and a meta file will appear in the folder...but a meta file is already there when I open the tt file for the first time before runing the save edit thingy...should it be?

No...

You need to generate a xxx.dct file based on your unique device ID, follow the instructions exactly, get your device ID,
Then edit the file (edit, save, open) with your device ID, save then open
Run in cmd mode it says something like OK, you will then see the dct file appear thats used to activate.

Basically follow the Instructions exactly.

However reading other forums some users have activation probs

in the tut on this thread, where it says:

Where it has "XXXXX-XXXXX"

should be

Where it has "XXXXX.XXXXX".

I believe :) this could easily lead to an activation problem

Thanks Blackbeard,

When you say run in cmd mode...how do you do that?...I think thats where im going wrong..:silly:

cmd is command mode i.e a dos prompt. It is not necessary to use this mode, the advantage is that, if there are errors you will be able to see and read the error messages.

To get to command mode in XP

Start >> Run >> type cmd
This will open Dos Box from where you will be able to run bat file.

it would probably be easier for you to just double click/open the bat file after you have edited it with your device ID to get the map_name.dct file.
