ive got one of these being delivered tomorrow, along with some other receivers from various places and iptv receivers to play with, i think ive gone long enough without a new receiver now, so decided to get 6 to make up for lost time lol

Any new tm linux box's on the horizon? or anything new you can tell us about that we could look into too.

new 'Super' TM receivers in the pipeline, based on the same chipset as the Solo2, Duo2, etc, the TM-nano-Super, TM-2T-Super and TM-Twin-Super. Software has been available for nearly a year now, but looks like TM is testing testing and more testing this time round

this is taken from my blog from last november m8, talking about the nano and 2t super models

Theres been some updates to the source code for these 2 as yet unreleased receivers, the first updates for wuite a while. From these updates, we can see that new drivers have been created today, and that they will be running the linux kernel 3.9.7. These are based on the same Broadcom BCM7356 dual core processor that the Vu+ Solo² and other newer receivers now use.

Hi again all,

It looks like the new TM-F3/5 is the smallest (close-source) Technomate receiver to date... just compare it in size to the TM-5402 HD M1/M2

TM-F3/5
250 x 45 x 195 (mm)

TM-5402 HD M1/M2
260 x 54 x 232 (mm)

The dimensions (quoted above) are from the Specifications details on the Technomate website...

Has anyone else noticed this...?

Best Wishes,
Zorch

My mistake mate... I've just seen pictures of it on digidude's blog... now that IS small...!!

Is it a clone of the Truman Mini...?

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Hi digi247,

So there's no optical connection... no scart connections... and no USB port on the rear... is there a USB on the front...?

Best Wishes,

Hi again manic01,

I don't think I'll bother getting this one mate... I can't afford to buy anything new anyway.

Best Wishes,
Zorch

As Stated USB on the front i dont use the emote as i have a Harmony One which is far superior and can be customized with the button layout, as for the USB problem you can set up a network share from the receiver to your PC/Laptop and access files there i have not tried this yet but if its anything like the D15 and the Grand Triple that i had you still have to have some form of drive attached to the receiver to transfer the files over.

I will give this a try with a little more testing, As for the IPTV its OK but not something i will be watching on a permanent basis some channels dont work and some have atrocious lag and its not my connection as i have a Fibre 78mb download with a ping of around 11ms so that rules one problem, At the end of the day its a satellite receiver a first and should be judged just on those merits.

On first impressions if you have a 5402 its not worth the upgrade or Swap so to speak that is unless of course TM decide to abandon support for the 5402 which is highly unlikely due to its popularity, But if anyone is in the market for a TM based receiver i would probably say get this over the 5402 just based on price alone.

Zorch its got a few little more added features that would suit you as it does me like bring Positioner movement menu up while still on a channel and adjust the 36v on the fly in real time with picture and Quality readings on screen instead of having to go into the menu and adjust ala 5402. Little things like that may appeal to some. As i say still having a play at the moment

Regards

@Zorch, @mdt

Uploaded a few more screen shots for you so you can see the menu layout and a few of the features. Looks identical to the DrHD series near enough anyway.

I tried the Upload via network but as i thought you need a Drive plugged into the USB for transfer from another PC/laptop, why did they not leave the USB on the rear or at least add another one

did you find out what the 4.2.2. settings were for that we were discussing m8, regards mdt

Sorry not yet i will stick a query post over on the Community side, I have a funny feeling though its to do with the sampling of the picture of the receiver itself and not a 4:2:2 capable decoder as the other format is 4:4:4.

These settings will not give you 4.2.2. format feeds unfortunately. I have tried them and they do give subtle picture enhancements, but nothing to write home about.
