Hi all,

I'm really frustrated here.
I have an intermittent screen (Especially with HD Channels).
And also when I'm changing channels and switching to the menu.

When i press on the "info" button on my tv's remote I see that the video format keeps changing between "Wide Zoom" and "Full".
I have noticed that when the format switches to "Wide Zoom" there is no picture and when it's on "Full" the picture comes back..

so I went and switched auto format off from my TV settings, now there's no changing in screen format and keeps staying on "FULL" but the intermittent problem is still there; the picture keeps coming on and off (sometimes it says HDMI 1 on the screen when this happens).
The box doesn't do this on any other TV but our insurers are saying there's nothing wrong with the TV.

I also took the box to the manufacturers, they said there's nothing wrong with the box.
I went and bought a new HDMI cable which is also capable of 3d transmission but the problem is still there.

What could the problem be?, this is so frustrating.

Hi mintly,

TM-6800 HD Super+

Menu > System Settings > A/V Output Settings

Check that the settings in the menu are as follows... these were the settings I used with my TM-6800 HD Super+ which was also connected to my TV via an HDMI cable... and I had no problems at all.

TV Type > PAL
Scart > CVBS (YPbPr ON)
Screen Format > 16:9
Display Format > Pillar-Box
Video Format > 1080i
Digital Audio > DOLBY HDMI

You didn't mention which make/model of TV you are using... but I always set the 'Aspect Ratio' setting to 'Original' on my LG 42LD790 HDTV (I would imagine this is my 'Auto' aspect ratio setting)

I hope this helps...

Hi @Zorch

I'm using a Sony LCD TV.
I'm also using those settings already.
We need to find out what's causing this problem.,can you suggest a way I can troubleshoot?
BTW: Both devices are updated to the latest firmware.

Hi again mintly,

Are we ruling out the TM-6800 HD receiver/settings as the cause of the problem...?

If so then we're concentrating on the Sony TV

How many HDMI sockets do you have on the back of your Sony TV...?

If you have several HDMI sockets... have you tried connecting the TM-6800 HD on the alternatives...?

Have you checked to see if Sony has a 'support' section/troubleshooting section on their website...?

Hi @Zorch,

Yes, I'm trying to find out which device is the source of the problem.
1) The HDMI cable is ruled out since it's new.
2) I think we may rule out the box as it works on other TVs.
3) There are 4 HDMI ports on the TV, I've tried more than one and all giving the same problem.
4) Yes I've checked their website, but there doesn't seem to be a trouble shooting section for this specific problem.

Could this be a "handshake" problem or a clash between these two specific devices? (note: it was working perfectly before).

Hi again mintly,

Is there a menu within the TV software that specifically asks you to set what kind of device is connected to each of the HDMI ports...?

Hi again mintly,

Can you give me the model number of your Sony TV and I'll see if there's an online user manual I can look at.

Hi again mintly,

Thanks for the manual... however it doesn't really help a lot as none of the menus are shown... what I really wanted to see was if it has a menu for HDMI Inputs... do you know if your Sony TV has HDMI switching... and has it been enabled...?

I remember reading somewhere that if you have this enabled it can sometimes cause problems with HDMI 1.0 / HDMI 1.3 / HDMI 1.4 devices

Home > Settings > External Inputs > HDMI Set-up
Brings up;
Screen:
Control for HDMI = off
Auto devices off = off
Auto TV On = off
HDMI Device List
Device Control Keys = Menu Keys

Hi again mintly,

You stated that you have updated the TV with the latest software... so the following settings might have been reset to default... try altering these three settings (one at a time) to see if that rectifies the problem...

Control for HDMI = off
Auto devices off = off
Auto TV On = off

Hi @Zorch,

These settings are still the same and the problem is still ocuring.

Hi @Zorch,

Yes you can change these settings, and I have already tried with these settings on and off. :(
The problem has gone worse now btw. But when you press the ok button on the receivers controller, the picture stays on with the tv showing in the little box. (Stilll intermittent but not as much as when you're viewing the channel itself.

Hi again mintly,

Are you saying that you can't alter the three settings in this menu...?
You can't set any of them to ON...?

Hi again mintly,

Could it be the latest Phantompatch that's causing the problem... what happens if you apply an earlier patch...?

Hi @Zorch,

I was thinking of this, but I couldn't find an earlier official software for this box on their website, they only have the latest one.

We bought this box back in 2010, do you know which version of the software could have been in there by default, and where I can download it?

Hi again mintly,

Are you just using Technomate Original Software on your receiver...?

Hi @Zorch,

No, I'm using the latest patch as I thought it should be more stable with it.

Hi @Zorch,

I've tried this, but it doesn't resolve anything. Is there a page you can download an older version?
Also, I am wondering whether when I install a new software it deletes/formats everything from the old software. It may leave some files in there which may conflict with the new one.
