I broke the speed limit today.

The road was asking for it. :)

Freshly upgraded road surface, not a single car to be seen anywhere, just me in the car with a wide open motorway in the middle of nowhere.

It was too tempting. I *had* to find out the cars top speed. ;)

Yep we have all done it i suppose

That is a crazy speed to drive on any of the roads round here m8 we have some of the most dangerous roads isnt that a red route?

Sorry Sargie
On this ocassion i hang my head in shame for breaking the law, so near to your home town.:Sorry::slaps:
It was a Witchy moment of madness on A dead straight bit of road, with not a car in site for approx 1 mile if that.
I was curious to see what the She would do , campared to crap Transits i have been used too, lol.
Its that six speed box, it just does not sound like it was being thrashed even at that speed.
No excuses and as an ex part time Bike instructor, i should know better.
For all of those who have never broken the speed limit, please line up and throw stones at me as punishment!!!!!!!!!!

where do you want to start.
1. No chance if you hit a pot hole or have a blow out at that speed
2. Not very good for the car
3. Fuel consumption thro the roof
4. Definate ban if caught at that speed.
5. Chances of killing yourself plus your passengers greatly increased
6. Chances of killing other road users greatly increased

But like you say wheres the harm.

Points 1 5 and 6, is it worth the buzz?

1) If he maintains his car the chances of having a blow out are nil?
2) the cars engine is built to rotate in such a fasion it could not care weather it was doign 12 or 120 therefor a fail to see how its "bad for the car"
3) Who really cares petrol is petrol
4) Thats the chance he takes for having a bit of fun in his car
5) Your right, but as above
6) you right again if there was anyone else on the road ;)

Well done on reaching 120 mph i didnt think it could do it :p

Well done on reaching 120 mph i didnt think it could do it

Lol, oh yes it can. I've done 120mph in the wife's Astra 1.7 Cdti...and it felt remarkably stable too.

Not that I could ever condone witchy doing it of course. :NoNo:

I'm sure pc smithy is a member here..

As for the fresh tarmac, wasnt the spot with the speed cameras are by any chance??

Also didnt think you could afford fuel to do that speed.. considering u dont work and but claim pension..??

LOL... though, ive done 150mph in an astra no problem...

its the people that,s left behind that are left to deal with it..the idiots think there cool, driving fast,,tell that to there mother ,father, son, daughter wife etc I'm sure you would look DEAD cool in a coffin, and a coffin can reach 2 mph if the right people are on it

so every body here is saying i havent done that????

i have but dont do it now

I.. considering u dont work and but claim pension..??

I don't work because I'm retired K, and I don't claim a pension. I draw it.

Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure that I've never claimed a benefit of any sort. I only ever had a week off in all my working life, and as I was self-employed, it wasn't worth the hassle.

tongue and cheek mate...

Theres speeding then theres complete and utter reckless speeding!
Everybody speeds at some point, but over 100 on a motorway is way too dangerous, it takes one car to come down a slip road and into your path and you'll have no chance.
Hang youre head in shame boy!!!

PS
What oil and filter did you use?

You do realise of course that that statement is absolute bollox.

How do you figure?

The tyers that are suppost to be on the car are rated to speed well above the limt of the vehicals top speed, So he has the same amount of a change of getting a blow out at that speed as you normally do at 70.

I used to hit 127mph between junction 6 at Horwich and Junction 5 at Bolton on the M61 when I was late for work, in a Diesel 2.5 Merc.

To anyone who knows what I do the irony in that won't be wasted I am sure !

:)

lol what moterway do you drive on with one lane? If a car comes down the moterway you move into the middle lane or outside lane i fail to see any affect of this random car

There is plenty of people i know that drive at speed and salfey, and there is a few that drive at speed and act like twats. I can assure you that the ones that drive like twats (well under 100 i might add) are the ones that will die. And the ones that drive at speed on some open road wont.

Theres a speed limit for a reason you know.

...

To screw you out of some dosh if you break that limit...:proud:

Seriously though Witchy, you have done ther boy racer thing now with your new car, so no need to see if you can get it to 125mph or higher. I am not going to rant at you, I have broke the speed limit myself, not at anywhere near that speed but I am a scaredy cat...:proud:

I'll make it easy for you

Unless you was towing a trailer or caravan that is not fast. I've done half that speed on a push bike ffs. Scots are easily thrilled.
