small problem her wondering if any one can help up till 2 days ago my thunderbird email was fine then virgin had a problem and i couldnt get any emails ,yesterday this was fixed and i was getting my emails but i couldnt send them i keep getting this message

"sending of this message failed "
the message couldnt be sent because the connection to SMTP service SMTP .blueyonder.co.uk timed out ,try again or contact network admininistrator???

Go to Tools > Account Settings then scroll down the left panel (if needed) and click on Outgoing Server (SMTP) - then in the right panel click on your account and then click the [Edit] button. You will need to change the Server Name field, and any other settings to reflect whatever changes your isp has made.... I can't believe they've still been using the blueyonder domain this long :D

i changed everything to virginmedia.com ,i mean out going incoming all the settings everything, then i couldnt get any emails into thunderbird ,but still couldnt send any

right virgin are useless been onto them and their forum loads of people having the same trouble and they cant get it fixed ,is there anything else i can use for email like thunderbird or can yous suggest anything?

yep tried this but all it did was because it knew i was on the same computer it filled in aLL the details itself and i was back to square one ...still the same

Just to clarify you deleted the profile? Reinstalling Thunderbird, without this step, will just pick up the old profile. (Actually moving it to a different folder, or compressing it should be enough.)

According to tests the server is not responding correctly on the default port. You should set the outgoing server to:

Description: Irrelevant
Server Name: smtp.blueyonder.co.uk
Port: 25
Connection security: STARTTLS
Authentication method: Normal password

I've just sent an email using those settings, the reply is in your Inbox.
