Hardware best amd cpu to buy...

Hey people,

I have a MSI 970a-g43 motherboard an was wondering what is the best cheap cpu that I can overclock an possibly unlock a hidden core in.. I know about these black box chips. No clue which one I should be looking for.

All help is greatly appreciated.

Core unlocking was an unintentional feature of the tri and dual cored Phenom II series. These have been discontinued for a while now, so you need to be looking at ebay if it's something you really want to try.

As for best, cheap CPU. That will depend on what you want to do with it? A 4-core FX-4130 (3.8GHz stock) will perform slightly better in games than a 6-core FX-6300 (3.5GHz stock) as they still aren't highly threaded. However, video encoding and other highly threaded applications will get better results from the 6-core.
