Hi,

My dad opened a zip file that was packaged with a film from usenet and he's ended up with the PBS for Music Ransomware virus and can't get rid of it.

I've tried the Kaspersky Recovery Disc as recommended by numerous blogs but it still isn't shifting it.

I was speaking to someone else who has encountered it and he reckons that the PRS one is much worse than the Cheshire police on, which he managed to shift

Any other suggestions or is it a reformat job?

Malwarebytes full scan in safe mode with latest definitions might be worth a bash.

That's also something I've been reading, that and something called Hitman Pro. It's a real pain as he doesn't live local and I don't have a laptop so have to try and get as much info beforehand as I'm pretty much stuck when I get there.

Cheers

Malwarebytes in safe mode should get rid of it. Somebody did post a link to the pro version on here which includes active protection.

If he can get to the desktop then get him to install teamviewer and you can remotely control his PC without having to visit him physically.

Sorry, just checked and Pro version seems to be gone but I can e-mail you the keygen if you PM me.

If these don't work might be worth downloading r-kill and combo fix run r-kill first then run combo fix should repair your registry.
