Im trying to get FAT32 onto an external 300gb USB HDD but in vista it doesn't give me the option.

I did it through Dos and it took about 4 hours. Then when I went to drop files on it in Vista it said it need formatting.

Went into Manage Drives and ended up deleting all the partitions so now only have one partition and that is in NTFS.

Any one help me please?

I want it to use as a media drive on my mums new TV. Works fine through a USB stick 4gb formatted to FAT32.

Not sure whats up with it now. Can't use GUI Format yet as the drive is not showing in Computer, only in Drive Manager so I tried reformatting with that but still not showing.

Had to format in DOS again taking ages again though.

I did manage to get the films on and they showed on the TV but when I went to add others it wouldn't reappear back in windows.

Think I had it formatted in NTFS when it worked.

i'd start from scratch, in Disk Management (Right click my computer, select 'Manage' and scroll down to disk management) find the drive, right click and select 'Delete partition' (make sure u click the actual drive and not the current partition or u won't have that option)

Right click again and select 'new partition' and set the full size. it's now ready to be formatted, use the guiformat.
