Hi,

Im still having problem getting on certain sites, facebook, even this one sometimes, most are fine, just about 10%.

Is there say a port for my internet that I can add to my router so that it allows me to bypass any of my router settings, even though I did factory reset, or does anyone know the ip for facebook so that I can try and add that.

Any help with the port of my IE will be appreciated.

Regards

Just for interest the port for HTTP is Port 80

As maryhinge says. Ure router/firewall aint blocking your browsing. If it was then u would not be able to browse at all not selectively.

You could try making sure
  • Port 81 - HOSTS2 Name Server (Sometimes used as an alternative to PORT 80.on some older servers)
  • Port 443 - HTTP protocol over TLS/SSL
  • Port 8080 - HTTP Alternate
  • Port 8090 - HTTP Alternate Alternate
are not blocked

Its ok when Im in work, I did a properties on my conection from work and got IPv4 connectivity - Internet, IPv6 Local, but from my home router im getting IPv4 - Internet, IPv6 - Limited, is it the limited one thats stopping me getting on certain sites? I have done a google on this and it seems others have/are getting problems logging onto facebook. Im using VM for my broadband here If i click on my connection and choose details, Im getting a default gateway for my IPv4 settings as well as DHCP servers and DNS servers, however on the IPv6 settings im not getting a gateway or DNS server, is this ok, cant remember what it was at work. Do VM give me my DNS automatically, as Im reading I can put them in myself, this is what I have on my router, are any of these meant to be filled in?

DHCP Server: Enable Disable
Starting IP Address: 192.168.0.
Maximum Number of DHCP Users:
Client Lease Time: minutes (0 means one day)
Static DNS 1: . . .
Static DNS 2: . . .
Static DNS 3: . . .
WINS: . . .

Ok. I have changed my router from automatically detect DHCP to static IP which is what I think I have, its come up with numbers for my internet IP adress, subnet and gateway, but all 3 static dns lines are blank, and it wont let me save my settings till at least one has been filled in, what do I put in one of these?

You also require your BT Broadband username. This is made up of [email protected] where "your" equals your first name and "name" equals your surname, e.g. [email protected]. BT Broadband does not require that you enter a password to connect but some routers won't connect to the Internet without a password, in which case enter the word BT.

Thanks for all your help guys, I put them in and I couldnt even get on google, took them away and it connected again, but I cant even get on play.com now, its well strange, The ones for VM i mean

I have removed the router and everything works again, but i factory reset the bloody thing, i even bought a new one yesterday in case it was knacked and it did the same on that, why is my router not talking to my modem properly, I mean it must be talking to allow me on most sites, just not everyone

not a router problem.

This is almost certainly software related. one easy test for most software is to use either the shift or control key to override it and load the page like with a pop up stopper. the second thing is at the top left of your browser you get the option to load the page normally in explorer. whatever you have running is to me the cause. Use one of the many programs that show you what you have running at start-up so you can turn them off. another thing is just to turn off what you know you have running so you can get onto the page. routers dont really block web pages software does

iliveinuk can u post some of the sites ure router seems to block?

and some of the sites ure router doesn't block. it may give us more of a clue to what is happening.
